House of the Dragon - Game of Thrones spinoff (SPOILERS)

I am upset that the writers had Daemon choke Rhaenyra. It makes it hard now to root for their marriage. Hard to root for her staying with him. They were each other's rock. A sure thing.

I realize with people being murdered left and right this is an odd fixation on my part. But it felt like such a betrayal of Rhenyra, and of the character Daemon.

I realize Daemon is a bad guy. Just never thought the leopard would eat MY face I guess....

So Daemon was choking Rhaneyra and he lets go and she's all..."He never told you." like that justifies the choke. I didn't understand that part at all.

Wouldn’t holding a court on illuminating the knives’s message save this from disaster or now? Either aegon II or R can be king or queen…?..

I think that dragon was Daemon and Viserys's father's dragon. Currently unclaimed and the only one that comes close to rivaling Vhaegar (Aemond's dragon) in size. I think Daemon was trying to convince it to fight for the Blacks.

this. I hated that. I was a fan of the pairing and don't know why they went and did that!

Thank you for the last line.

Given the murder of his first wife and other moral … choices, just was not surprised.

Yeah he’s always had an undercurrent of vicious brutality that surfaces in certain circumstances.

So out of character. Why bother? It’s not like he’s going to plead anything from anyone.

I think it was more like, "Oh boy I just committed an unauthorized assassination".

My thought was that and that he realized the war was unavoidable now.

Also, these dragons are barely tamed. Their descendants are far more obedient.

So many bastards! In America today

Yes! This is the thing we've been missing.

Honestly, a lot of things would be better if more emphasis was placed on functioning family units. And I am neither religious nor a Republican.

I know a lot more functioning family units headed by single parents than ones with two parents. Their are just so many unhappy marriages. You only have to look at this forum. People who are miserable and their kids know it, but the parents think it’s better to keep up appearances. The kids are not seeing a healthy marriage or healthy self-care.

I don't think he intended to kill him, just torment him like the good old days. So, yeah, he feels some remorse, realizing his reckless actions will lead to war.

So Daemon was choking Rhaneyra and he lets go and she's all..."He never told you." like that justifies the choke. I didn't understand that part at all.

The dragon was Lord Corlys's brother's dragon.

I thought the finale was better than all the previous episodes put together. Just as I become really interested, it's over for nearly 2 years!

I felt the same. The character is an awful person and a murderer, so it’s not that he wouldn’t do that. But I know the statistics on how choking is one of the worst forms of partner abuse (one of the warning signs for potential homicide), so any scene that normalizes it even a little is not okay with me.

Nope.
Given the size of that dragon and the response to his song, this can only be Vermithor, who was King Jaehaerys’ dragon — something the show’s Twitter account confirmed. (Silverwing, who Daemon mentions is coiled up with Vermithor, is Jaehaerys’ wife’s dragon — love is real.) He is described in the book as a bronze dragon with “great tan wings,” already large when Jaehaerys was accepted as his rider. By the time we meet him here at the start of the Dance of the Dragons, he’d be about 100 years old.

Help me process this!

LOL. “Traumatized”?

But the incest, rape, etc are ok?

Each other’s rock? More like convenient ally, as needed.

I bet he’s toast after that though.
