Does anyone else hate summer? I need to know I'm not alone.

Wait, what? Serious question: you can get seasonal affective disorder in the summer? I thought that was sun related?

No, they made that up. SAD happens in winter when there is less daylight. They were trying to be. Snarky.

It is a thing. Not common but legit.

“ In rare instances, some individuals experience SAD in the summer. If individuals feel unusually down, tired, or anxious during the summer, they should check with their doctor to see if they have summer SAD. Medical treatment, counseling, and lifestyle changes can make living with summer SAD easier.”

I find summer to be stifling. I hate the heat and direct sun. I keep the blinds shut to keep the house cooler so it can be a very isolating time for me.

I feel the opposite. So much easier to throw on shorts and a tee or a loose cotton dress and sandals than wear leggings or jeans all the time. I find the former to be much for forgiving to my lumps.

Really? I feel like I can wear a sweater and loose jeans in the winter and look fine. I have nothing to wear in the summer. Jeans are too hot. My legs are too fat for shorts. I can’t wear anything on top that doesn’t at least cover my flabby upper arms. When I wear dresses I get chub rub on my thighs. I wear capris and a loose tee, but it looks terrible. Can’t wait to cover up again in the fall.
your legs are not to fat for shorts, wear the shorts. Be comfortable.

I love summer but I have a different perspective. I'm a teacher so I finally get a break. Join a pool and go in the late afternoon or evening. It's a nice time to go since it usually isn't as crowded at that time.

Already dreading it. In Texas where it's been mid-90s for weeks now. It'll just get so ridiculous when it's actually Summer, ugh. Always wish we could get straight to Fall. Even with not having a 'proper' Fall, much better than this heat.

Yes, I am the original SAD poster. I've been diagnosed with it by my doctor. It's legit because... wait for it.... it's seasonal! Comes and goes like clockwork. Exact same symptoms as winter SAD (lethargy, weight gain, depression, oversleeping, loss of interest in activities).

It's hot. Like, in the winter, you can put ON a jacket. And it really doesn't get that cold here. But in summer? There is no relief.

You need sunscreen, bug spray, and hats, plus water EVERY time you leave. Winter...? Just leave the house.

THE BUGS

If you have kids who overheat...? Forget it. You're stuck inside.

Anyone else HATE summer?

Don't try to change my mind.

You’re my new best friend.

The sun literally hurts my skin and I hate being wet so the idea that I'm supposed to sit in water to feel ok just makes it worse.

Agree! So hard to sleep properly in the heat. Miss the weight of a blanket and the hum of the ceiling fan and the constant stimuli on my skin makes me crazy. So I am both hot and tired all summer.

You hate summer because you’re poor.

I like summer but a big part of this is that we live a block away from the neighborhood pool. Keeps the kids busy and we all get to cool off. Without the pool, I wouldn’t enjoy summers nearly as much

I also hate summer. I overheat fast, become a sweaty mess, the sun hurts my eyes and makes me feel sick when it bears down on me without any cloud coverage. I also don't love summer clothes. Hate bugs. Hate hate hate humidity.

65 degrees is my favorite temperature. Give me spring or fall any time. And I'll take winter over summer.

I grew up with this gross summer heat and humidity and have never gotten used to it.

Ah, I'm an earlier poster who loathes summer and this is very true. Also nectarines and strawberries (though those are late spring/early summer). And fresh tomatoes.

The other thing I hate about summer is having to use AC. It's terrible for the planet and I prefer it when I can open windows and get fresh air in the house.

The fruit is the only good thing about summer.
