Does anyone else hate summer? I need to know I'm not alone.

I am with you 110% OP.

In winter, when it gets really cold - I have the option of jumping under the covers w/the heater on.
It’s really a cozy time for me.

But during the summer, when the heat + humidity are on full blast > it kills me mostly b/c I have no A/C in my house.
And all my fans do is blow hot air.

I am always walking around my house singing “Wake me up…..when September ends…..”🎶🎶

I love that it gets dark at 8pm. I hated earlier this year when it got dark at 4:30 pm. Just felt like I was in a dark gloom and trapped.

That said, I hate it slightly less since we joined a local community pool in 2020. Pool weekends are so relaxing and fun. Summer swim team is a blast for the kids. Outdoor laps at 6am - *chef's kiss*.

But when I'm not at the pool? Screw summer.

I don’t love the heat and humidity, but I absolutely love the long days and the slower pace of summer. Weather wise, I love the crispy, sunny days of fall but not the fact that it gets dark early. The short, gray days of winter are the absolute worst.

I also love to snowboard and x-country ski, so winter has become so much more special for me.

Given all the many people who seem to hate Florida weather I'd say there are lots of people who also hate DC summers. I am not one of them. I love summer and I love Florida weather. I hate winter. I live in Florida now and I am very happy here. I visited the DC area this past December and decided I will not ever do that again unless it's for a reason like a death in the family. My family is mostly in NoVa and I miss them all the time but I cannot stand the cold. Like others have said I can't get warm even inside when it's freezing outside. I bundle up and even so end up having to take a hot shower to warm up.

It's hot. Like, in the winter, you can put ON a jacket. And it really doesn't get that cold here. But in summer? There is no relief.

You need sunscreen, bug spray, and hats, plus water EVERY time you leave. Winter...? Just leave the house.

I LOVE Summer! I LOVE the heat, I LOVE sitting on the porch with a cold beer watching the world go by, I LOVE grilling and barbecuing, I LOVE baking in the sun poolside, I LOVE the sound of the bug zapper doing its job. I LOVE IT!
