Does anyone else hate summer? I need to know I'm not alone.

Do you not have A/C?

I take all my vacation time in summer and head back to NE, where I grew up (and should have stayed)!

My body was not designed for it. I should live in Northern Europe or at least, like, Maine or Canada. I overhear easily no matter how hydrated I am. My skin burns instantly unless I wear SPF 50 and reapply regularly. Mosquitos love me. I get heat rashes even from the breathable, weather appropriate clothes I wear. By July my skin just kind of prickles all the time, from the heat and humidity. I was simply not meant for this weather. How I wound up in DC, in a job that is tied to the city, married to a man with similar, is comical (to others, not to me, I’m too uncomfortable to laugh).

And the worst part is that it will only get worse, every year. And my kid is just like me. I have to budget time every morning for sunscreen/bug spray application and buy UPF hats and clothing in triplicate and still, still she will wind up with pink skin and a million mosquito bites. Sigh.

I could have written every word here. Add a long-haired dog that should be getting a lot of exercise but suffers in the heat, I have to get up at the crack of dawn to take her out AND do late night walks and runs, it totally sucks. I love the last walk of the night being 6:30-7:30 instead of 9:30-10:30 and still having to bring water and wondering if she needs paw protection for the sidewalks.

I hate extremes regardless of the season. My preferred weather is 45-75 with occasional, predictable rain. That climate doesn’t exist.

It does, in Carmel, and that is why it costs so much to live there.

I'm an adult who burns easily, overheats, gets migraines and then pukes and then passes out from heat,, and has rosacea. Any weather over 75 is my enemy. I spend zero time outdoors during the warm months.

I’m from PA and despite my hatred of summer it’s worth it to live here for the year round sunshine. I can accept 3 months of intense heat in exchange for 300+ days of sunshine and mild winters.

Just how cloudy is PA? How does PA summers compare to here? Thank you!

I hate it hate it hate it. I get Seasonal Affective Disorder starting about mid-July and it lasts until the end of September. Depression combined with heat-induced lethargy is just the absolute worst. I am dreading it.

I hate being cold and have a hard time feeling warm in winter. It feels like the cold is in my bones. I barely leave the house in winter if I can help it - I go to/from my house and car and stay outside as minimally as possible. I have my husband walk the dog in winter.

And the number of days in a row where you don't see any blue sky is just depressing.

My experience with Pittsburgh: it's overcast MOST of the time. There are sunny days, but they are truly rare. I lived there for 24 years and honestly the sunshine here in VA *still* surprises me most days. When I go back to visit, NO MATTER the time of year, we sometimes do not see the sunshine for the entire 5 day visit.

This is not hyperbole, I swear.

Summers are hot but cloudy and rainy. I remember it raining a lot in the summer.

I really don't get this comment at all. There are a few cloudy days and some years we have "bad" winters (ice, snow) but it usually not cloudy more than a few days in a row.

Want to be depressed? Move north.

I won't talk you out of it, but will say I really like having the four seasons. Fall is my favorite, and I love spring.

I tend to not like winter, but I try to appreciate being cozy in the house and I sometimes like getting up early in the dark before the rest of the house and having quiet time....even early morning walks as the sun comes up. And I do appreciate a good snow day so long as we don't have to be anywhere.

As for summer, I appreciate the super long days, the kids not being in school, we take an annual vacation, etc. I wouldn't want it all year round though I do appreciate it.

PP here. NEVER. I will never live north of here. This is the furthest north I have ever live or will ever live, and as soon as DH retires we're moving south.

I was super depressed with long winters living in Wisconsin. I did everything possible to move and I’ll never live north of here again! If your life is truly that affected by seasonal changes you have to make changes.
