Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)
|
Two more appointments were made at the board meeting today:
|
| Does anyone else hear The Hunger Games theme music in your mind when you see these principal announcement photos? 😆 |
| Oh man, I know the staff at Fox Chapel (and probably parents too) are thrilled to finally have someone new in that position. |
There are so many more principals who mcps knows will be vacating positions. Why are they waiting to announce? "They" meaning MCPS. You'd think they'd want more time to fill the positions thoughtfully! |
MS. Yates was already the acting principal at Fox Chapel. |
1) Because until someone formally declares and puts in paperwork they are not leaving 2) Because it takes time to fill positions, including applications, narrowing down to seminfinalist, soliciting participants for the community panel interview, actual community interview, and final interviews. 3) Because there are also lots of teacher positions that need to be filled also. 4) Because there is still things going in school, like graduations, promotion ceremonies, school trips, and general school. 5) Because thungs like school shootings happen in the country than invariably shake uo the staff and students and require you to again renew focus in mental health of students, staff, and the community. Not to mention re-examine your own security oilicies and reassure your community 6) Shall we continue… |
| Anyone know what happens if you know in advance a principal is retiring? Ours at Bradley hills is retiring (after almost a decade) after next school year. Would they have someone in to shadow her and then serve as replacement? We currently have no AP so will someone take that job this year and then get bumped up? |
I think they'd want to have a candidate do the interim thingie first, not just bump an AP. |
Well, it would help if they didn't bag final interviews with the principal candidates at the last minute, and also didn't string along candidates for other central office positions month after month. |
| How can a principal be removed? The one at Washington Grove Elementary has single handedly run our once lovely school into the ditch. And yes, this was before the pandemic. The pandemic has only made it go from worst to hell. |
You can contact her director, Nicole Sosik, or the associate superintendent, James Koutsos. But you'll need to supply specific examples of problems and how you tried to address them locally, how the principal responded, etc. |
Rule 1: document, document, document. |
|
So which schools still need principals for next year (that are already known)?
I think we've heard about Flower Valley, Luxmanor, Lakewood, Rosemary Hills, and Wood Acres elementary schools and Neelsville MS. Others? |
Still open....Neelsville MS, Little Bennett, Wood Acres, Carderock Springs, Lakewood, Jones Lane, Stedwick. Rosemary Hills, Luxmanor, Flower Valley, Rachel Carson, and Watkins Mill Elementary |
Wow, that is a lot |
