That’s an excellent point. Weird that it hasn’t come up at all until now. |
No. He handled it wrong. But his point was right. Beth agreed he should run for his position. Once you run, there is no going back. Yes it was a stupid decision. But it cannot be undone without hurting other people. This is no time for Beth to get some low paying job that I’m involved nights and weekends. She can relive her dancing days another way. It’s time to be a grown up and get a real job. But she should have said the same thing to Randall when he came up with his ridiculous idea. Both are being so selfish. Being a parent sometimes means you make sacrifices. Especially after taking in an adopted child. |
I actually thought Randall was going to say "you were there for me during the campaign, but I'm going to pass on being the elected official so we can work this out." But, damn. I was surprised at how selfish he was. That seemed unlike him. He's supposed to be the one with emotional IQ.

Totally agree on all points! Beth needs to get herself into some adult dance classes and get a job that pays the bills. Randall needs to finish out his term and go back to a real job. |
Excellent point! Why does Kate get a pass and not Beth? I was half hoping Beth had smacked Kate during that scene last season when Kate got snippy with Beth and told her that she took her brother away when they got married. Haven't they been married well over 10 years? Beth is too classy for that. I'm not. Also, isn't Kate in California? What is the deal with Randall and Kevin flying across the country at the last second for her doctor appointments and whatnot? Kevin is somewhat carefree and has money. Randall has some saved up, but he also has 3 children, a wife and is a newly elected official, yet he drops it all to run to Kate, who has a husband. |
That graduation party is so embarrassing. Seriously. If my husband pulled that sh*t on me… I’m glad money is no object for them but that party was outrageously over the top. Also, OH NO to Randal with his “do we want strangers raising our kids” line. No no no no no. That’s some bullsh*t right there. If I were Beth I’d be like “maybe if we could reallocate the fly across country fifteen times a month at the last minute for your family budget into our childcare budget then we could hire that expensive nanny “

I agree and I think it was especially insane of Beth to pursue dance AFTER Randall won that election. Really, what was her plan there? Also wouldn't it be great is there was some semblance of real life and they had to consider selling their expensive house? |
I think Jack had an enormous life insurance policy we haven't heard about yet. |
It was so annoying when Randall showed up when Kate was admitted to the hospital. It's completely unrealistic for their family to jet back and forth from coast to coast for every single "crisis".
And I think it is a very good point about Beth losing her father as a teen - she seemed to pull her life together (until now). Everyone deals with grief differently, but Beth was super close to her dad too. |
I wonder if the writers and creators of this show were like, how do we deal with the fact that some are on the east coast and some are on the West coast?
oh I know what we'll do we'll just have them constantly fly back and forth like they're taking a city bus! No big deal. |
I’m super annoyed by this and I’m not usually one to nitpick stuff. Kate and Toby need to move to New York. |
Wait! I thought we weren't able to nitpick about geography. It's been well established that the writers on this show live in an alternate universe when it comes to geography. The same universe where you can easily drive between New Jersey and Pittsburgh in an afternoon, where once can easily fly between east and west coast... |
PP you quoted and same. I can suspend disbelief with the best of them, but this is just getting crazy. |
How did tonight’s episode end? My dvr cut off when they were praying to Jack. And was there a preview for next week? |
I’m a fan of this show but last night’s episode was horrible. The whole waiting room thing was so boring. We’ve been following Kate this whole time and they don’t even show the delivery? And why didn’t they do flashbacks to Rebecca’s own experience with a high risk pregnancy and losing a baby. Being so happy and devastated at the same time, similar to what I’m sure Kate and Toby are feeling.
Also, Randall and Beth’s childcare dilemma. Why not hire the person they have watching their 3 children while they fly across the country for an indeterminate amount of time (and use the money they spend on all those last minute flights) |
