The “football player?” Show some respect - it was the great Franco Harris. I do wonder if his backstory intersects with the Pearson’s though.

Poor Kate too.

Lol, I bet most of us watching have no idea that is based off a real perso , even when you say the name I have no clue who it is and I live in Pittsburgh

You live in Pittsburgh and don’t know Franco Harris? Did you recently move there? Do you pay no attention to Pittsburgh history/pop culture events?

There's a statute of Franco at the Pgh Airport!! Right next to George Washington. Please tell me you moved there a month ago or less.

+! My next question was going to be "have you never been to the airport?" You can't miss the statue...

I'm so glad the show is back. I hope for some happiness for Kate.

Nothing is better than funny Randall.

Are your Franco theories trade secrets? Why don’t you share them?

I had never heard of Franco Harris, but I'm not a sports fan. So This Is Us is educational as well as tear-jerking!

I don't think he could be from Beth's family or that would be known. The father of a half-sister for Randall? Of course his birth mom would have had to have been awfully young, I still think there's more bio family that Randall doesn't know about. Maybe a DNA test will end up being featured this season.

Ha ha, no. I thought maybe he was Zoe's dad. She looks biracial, and it would explain why he was just introduced now. I agree that if we was Beth's dad, it would have come up before.

I still can't figure out who Randall and Tess are going to see. I looked like there were a bunch of flowers like at a funeral/memorial service. But would that do that at a hotel? I am pretty sure Randall called Toby to ask if he was coming down and Toby looked like he was in a hotel.

Deja's father! He is now working in the sport shop..

And no Kate with gray-bearded Toby. But that seems too obvious an answer for the show.

Not even This Is Us can make Franco Harris anyone's father. It's just a great shout out to the Pittsburgh football team that runs through so such of the Pearson's history (triplets conception, birth, Jack's death all had an underlying football connection). Immaculate reception is a metaphor as pp above described. I love being in on the theme. To the Pittsburgh pp who said she never heard of Franco Harris: delete your account.

The shop guy is too young to be the football player. Franco Harris is now 68 yrs old.

I guess that by showing gray bearded Toby we do know that he doesn't totally go off the deep end when he stops taking his antidepressants.

Franco Harris is Jack and Rebecca's age. And I'm sure he's not working in a shop. Real life Harris is not the father of any Pearsons.

I guess Rebecca's funeral would be too predicable.

Simmer down. Can you conceive of a world where people don't give a shit whatsoever about professional sports? It's the world I live in, and my life is quite full.

I love when Beth is funny.

Do you swear on Oprah?
Even Gail has betrayed Oprah.
I confronted Kevin.
You swore on Oprah!
I donated to her cause.

LOLZ for days at Beth!
