Exactly, no solutions for all the other 200+ rapes per year in Montgomery county. Head in the sand about the fact that 1 in 10 girls are raped by their boyfriends (or somebody they know) in high school. We don't want to mess up our white boys' future.

Makes one wonder how much outrage it would generate if the suspects were two white boys from Flower Valley.

It would generate an equal amount of outrage. Does that answer your question? Why do you keep posting? We care about all rapes happening in and out of our schools. This one is the final straw. And to throw your question back at you...what have YOU done to prevent the 200+ rapes reported?

I'm not sure why the 200+ rapes person keeps posting. Clearly it's to avoid having a real conversation about what happened to this 14 yr old girl. Obviously we care about all rapes. Obviously you can't avoid all rapes from happening. Obviously rapes happen on a regular basis and are conducted by men and women regardless of race. We get it. BUt this issue, this thread- is about the failure of MCPS to keep children safe by allowing a MAN, already with an alien removal status to enroll in 9th grade at a public school. How do you not understand the ridiculousness of that?

Which happened how many times in the last 20 year. Once.

Why do you want to put so much time and effort into stopping something that hardly ever happens but you don't want to put money and effort into stopping boys who have parents at home, are educated, speak English and still rape. Don't you think you have a better chance of stopping 50 rapes a year than 1 every 20 years if you just cared about rape and did not make this an immigration issue.

This unfortunate event has highlighted the stupid MCPS policy that allows men to enroll in 9th grade. Are we suppose to just ignore that and sit back? We can do something about this NOW. By the way, do you believe that montgomery county tax payers now have to put up money in educating boys from English speaking, educated households to not rape? You don't believe that that's the job of their parents to do that? You're really off topic here. Please start your own thread.

Parents?? What parents? Their parents are not here! They were sent up here for the free student exchange program!

Oh, right... it wasn't to escape gang warfar happening there.

https://www.theguardian.com/news/datablog/ng-interactive/2014/sep/05/the-worlds-most-dangerous-countries-for-young-people-homicide-rates-for-under-20-year-olds-mapped

Kind of hard to see, but Guatemala and El Salvador are the top 10 most violent countries for children.

Don't care, the sympathy train has stopped. Our great Country gives these shitholes tons of foreign aid and they need to use that money to fix their problems. Ergo, we shouldn't have to fix it twice, pay for it twice, by bringing it here and shoving it, literally, in our children's faces. And don't tell me about their corrupt governments, again not my problem. These young animals should have been in their own countries, in their own military, and fighting to save their own damn country. We do enough.

The way we solve this is not sustainable. We are building new schools every year due to the influx. Entire new schools!! As a liberal, the thought of losing so many trees and open space alone should convince you. We are hiring more and more teachers, all content areas, all grades, not just ESL. We are also giving them free lunch and free breakfasts! It would be far cheaper to help them get control of the violent gangs in their countries.

So what? That doesn't mean we bring them here and somehow hope they will want to get an education, learn our culture, assimilate, appreciate the asylum they have received, and make our country proud and better that they are a part of it? Do you know how many children all of the world die every day? It is sickening but that doesn't mean we can send them all to live here.

And just to let you know, Africa has all 10 of the top deadliest countries for kids. And the 15 top dangerous countries in the world? None are from North, Central or South America. And to note that countries like Turkey, Germany, France, Ukraine, etc... have plummeted in their "safe" rankings due to terrorism, political instability, and increased violence.

15. Nigeria — 2.877
14. North Korea — 2.944
13. Russia — 3.079
12. Democratic Republic of the Congo — 3.112
11. Pakistan — 3.145
10. Libya — 3.2
9. Sudan — 3.269
8. Ukraine — 3.287
7. Central African Republic — 3.354
6. Yemen — 3.399
5. Somalia — 3.414
4. Afghanistan — 3.538
3. Iraq — 3.57
2. South Sudan — 3.593
1. Syria — 3.806

+1

And the money we do send down there in aid never works. It can not when you have a corrupt government. And American meddles in too many corrupt governments already. We are hated around the world. Let's take our focus in our own country. How about Chicago for example. Do you think anyone that lives around there is happy we are paying for refugees to come live here when they are basically living in a war zone that each administration, especially Obama in his 8 years, continues to ignore.

We gave $61 million in aid to Guatamala in 2016 and $123 million in aid for 2015.

Think about what could have done instead for our inner cities, our cold mining towns, our veterans and our senior citizens.

The best place is a Rockville HS since this has never happened before and everybody will be on high alert.

No place in moco unless they change the policy of letting illegal immigrant adults attend a public high school.

Actually, every place in montgomery county is great. Just like everywhere bad crimes happen and it's shocking., because it is so RARE. But the sky is not falling.

Yeah, everything is just great, and will be even greater than what is happening in Europe, in Germany! Cheers!

MoCo Council President Berliner holding weekely briefing right now.

Guess the topic.. A resolution to condemn Trump's proposed budget.

Doesn't answer your question but between 2014 and 2015 only, it looks like MOCO took in 534 undocumented children:

Are all 534 are real "children"? I won't call the two 17, 18 yo rapist "children".

These things are not unrelated. Programming for at risk youth faces enormous cuts in the proposed budget.

We know that federal law mandates these young people be educated. We also know that people would HOWL if the county dedicated a single high school to recent immigrants transitioning to the US school system. So...what is MCPS supposed to do? They can't bar people based on immigration status, and they don't have funding for specialized programs.

I wouldn't be surprised if 17 or 18 year olds are included in that number. Just remember that's 534 in one year that we took in. That is basically a size of one elementary school.

Many of our sons (and daughters) are still in high school beginning 18 as seniors as our kids are forced to be held back due to their age/fall birthdays.

This whole incident is sickening and heartbreaking. So what can we do about it? MCPS is radio silent which is revolting. What are the answers? How do we get grown illegal men out of the classrooms with American children? This calls for an organized effort and jobs to be lost. Starting with the Super, BOE and the Montgomery council. Worrying here is not going to result in change. Concerned parents are in a vacuum here.

Do you not see a difference between an American citizen who is 18 and a senior in high school and an 18 year old, 9th grade, illiterate illegal immigrant who rapes a 14 year old?

Guaranteed if we shared a border with the above countries, you'd find illegal immigrants from there - except maybe NK where they kill you if you dare to leave the country.

And I don't think the government "sent" those children to the US. I believe most risked the danger and crossed the border themselves. They are here. SCOTUS has determined that we need to educate children (though I use that term loosely since we seem to have 20 year olds in HS). Change the federal laws, then MCPS can do something about it.

Otherwise, I'm not sure what MCPS can do about educating these kids.
