They have better lawyers than the victim and they are illegals . This is riot material.

Emm.. in a criminal case, the victim's lawyer is _always_ the government.

Agree. Shame on CNN. Do they even care about children?

First CNN has reported the story as has the Washington post etc. they are not making it into a cause Celebre as fox is. I don't need breathless comments about what tucker Carlson is saying etc.
Second and more importantly please take partisan comments to the political forum. It is becoming increasingly clear that this thread is being hijacked by people who might not even have kids in MCPS and are using the crime to score points about immigration and about mainstream media

+ 1. I would really like a show of hands to see how many of the posters here even live in Montgomery County. I think most posts are coming from people from out of the area with a political agenda.

NYT media article today confirmed Fox News was the *only* network to give this coverage. CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, CBS ignored it. CNN posted an article to its website, that's it.

That's because the *actual* story of national interest is now that of the lynch mob incited by Fox to ghoulishly exploit a rape. There's been normal coverage of the rape in local DC media, as befits a local occurence.

I will ask one more time for posters to stick to school-related issues in this thread. If you want to talk about immigration-related issues, please join this thread:

http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/628498.page

If posters are unable to do this, I will be forced to lock this thread.

Similarly, discussion of religion has no place in this thread. I previously asked the poster who keeps bringing up religion to stop. This is your second warning. There will not be a third warning.

so that includes speculation on who is paying the lawyer correct?

The Rapist looks like he took a machete to the face and is probably mentally f**ed up and dangerous. I can feel a groundswell of pushback building against the morons who set insane policy. You can bet this is on the Presidents radar. The tide is turning very quickly to help prevent this outrageous situation at Rockville HS.

+1. Your sentiments are echoed everywhere in the nation. People are fed up with this insanity.

That's how I am interpreting it. Jeff does not want us to discuss this issue from an Immigration or Religion perspective, at least on this forum. I think that is fair. I will behave myself and promptly report when the discussion starts veering towards Immigration or Religion. And if the pot starts to get stirred based on race, I am sure we can report that too, and the thread will be locked. Thank you, Jeff.

Yes. Such speculation was being used to criticize specific organizations without evidence.

Should we report all speculative posts that don't provide evidence?

I'm from moco and I have school aged kids. I think it's awful that people are being beaten up and raped in some of our public schools - seems out of control and it's just sickening

FWIW, this link was shared on our ListServ in case people were not aware:

http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/sharedaccountability/safetyglance/

Safety stats for last school year.

The summary at the end shows that there were 186 sex related incidents last school year where police were NOT called.

64 sex related incidents were police were called.

The detectives collected blood samples from the crime scene, but the rapist is still claiming innocence.
