Exactly, no solutions for all the other 200+ rapes per year in Montgomery county. Head in the sand about the fact that 1 in 10 girls are raped by their boyfriends (or somebody they know) in high school. We don't want to mess up our white boys' future.

Makes one wonder how much outrage it would generate if the suspects were two white boys from Flower Valley.

It would generate an equal amount of outrage. Does that answer your question? Why do you keep posting? We care about all rapes happening in and out of our schools. This one is the final straw. And to throw your question back at you...what have YOU done to prevent the 200+ rapes reported?

I'm not sure why the 200+ rapes person keeps posting. Clearly it's to avoid having a real conversation about what happened to this 14 yr old girl. Obviously we care about all rapes. Obviously you can't avoid all rapes from happening. Obviously rapes happen on a regular basis and are conducted by men and women regardless of race. We get it. BUt this issue, this thread- is about the failure of MCPS to keep children safe by allowing a MAN, already with an alien removal status to enroll in 9th grade at a public school. How do you not understand the ridiculousness of that?

Which happened how many times in the last 20 year. Once.

Why do you want to put so much time and effort into stopping something that hardly ever happens but you don't want to put money and effort into stopping boys who have parents at home, are educated, speak English and still rape. Don't you think you have a better chance of stopping 50 rapes a year than 1 every 20 years if you just cared about rape and did not make this an immigration issue.

This unfortunate event has highlighted the stupid MCPS policy that allows men to enroll in 9th grade. Are we suppose to just ignore that and sit back? We can do something about this NOW. By the way, do you believe that montgomery county tax payers now have to put up money in educating boys from English speaking, educated households to not rape? You don't believe that that's the job of their parents to do that? You're really off topic here. Please start your own thread.

Parents?? What parents? Their parents are not here! They were sent up here for the free student exchange program!

Kind of hard to see, but Guatemala and El Salvador are the top 10 most violent countries for children.

We DO put money and effort into it...it's called the training programs that we educate our students with, it's called the background checks that we try to screen adults with, it's the interventions (however imperfect) that the 18 year old MEN were not here to receive.

I don't know if you're the original PP I'm responding to, but if you are- you just said that these boys are from English speaking educated households. Anyway, this is really a major deflection on the topic and really needs its own thread.

Rape is not covered in high school education. My H teaches about rape at a college level. We teach AP everything else.

The New York Times editorial board puts this on employers, and our government, for not enforcing laws to hire legally. Many people on this board also need to take a long look at who they are hiring to watch their children, clean their homes, mow lawns, cater their events, home maintenance, etc... are you also contributing to the problem of keeping illegal immigrants here with cash payments and no questions asked? I'm just saying that we can't have it both ways: complaining about illegal immigration while underpaying immigrants to do jobs we don't want to do or don't want to pay a good wage for. This is happening up and down the employment chain, so to speak.

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/20/opinion/no-crackdown-on-illegal-employers.html?ref=opinion

+1. The real problem is the employers that want to maximize their profits by paying people sub-minimum wages, which they can do because the people are desperate and undocumented. You anti-immigrant posters like to bash on the Democrats but the previous administration was really cracking down on this with a one-two punch of: (1) the social security no-match letters and serious penalties for employers that didn't resolve no match issues; and (2) cracking down on misclassification of workers as "independent contractors" which is how all these employers get around the social security problem. The current administration will do nothing on the independent contractor problem, because the Chamber of Commerce doesn't want it to focus on this abuse.

+2 But, it's easier to blame the poor brown person than the rich and powerful. By and large, these are poor people coming here to work. If they can't find work, they will stop coming. That's not a hard concept. I'm betting that many poor immigrants from past generations would've entered this country illegally if they were not allowed in legally, oh, actually, that did happen. Go visit Ellis Island. There are stories about how some of the European immigrants lied to get in.

Well, , it turns out the guilty parties are poor brown people in this instance. And for the record, it appears as if they came to this country to rape and pillage as evidenced by their actions and not work and be productive, even given the opportunity. I mean they didn't even have to search this out, it was gifted to them with a big red bow. By and large, these men should not be in our schools with are children, this is not what we work so hard for everyday. I do not contribute the taxes I do to support little punks like this. Deport all of them now and you can go too.

No, but sexual assault and molestation IS covered every year from grade 1 and up. It's called Sex ed. Most kids start in the schools young and are trained early to not sexually assault others.

I have an idea, then stop having children in these countries until you get your house in order. Let's send them lots of condoms. Libs like that, right? It is not the American citizen and their children's responsibility to sacrifice their lives one safety to correct the wrongs of these women and men producing children they can't take care of. Abortion for all, right, isn't' that another liberal stance? Wow, thanks libs for getting us into this situation. You have a small window of opportunity to reverse this dynamic, I hope you pull your head out of your asses and take it.

Oh, I suppose all of the effort and money that went into getting this to happen counts for nothing. http://affinitymagazine.us/2017/02/18/marylands-new-sex-ed-curriculum-will-change-the-lives-of-students/

Don't care, the sympathy train has stopped. Our great Country gives these shitholes tons of foreign aid and they need to use that money to fix their problems. Ergo, we shouldn't have to fix it twice, pay for it twice, by bringing it here and shoving it, literally, in our children's faces. And don't tell me about their corrupt governments, again not my problem. These young animals should have been in their own countries, in their own military, and fighting to save their own damn country. We do enough.

Of course not. They're probably busy huddling with lawyers.

The superintendent turned down interview requests from Fox5 today:

I guess the public has no need to be concerned about school security, right?
