How long will the shutdown last?

Yup... Ronald Reagan Proved it.

This is the post 9/11 world. Reagan wouldn't be able to pull off that crap nowadays, and good luck hiring anyone else if you do manage to fire anyone who went on strike.

As pointed out earlier in this thread, the military (including reservists and guardsmen) could fill in, just like in the 1980s.

Has anyone floated this idea with the appropriate parties? I think it is a worthwhile pursuit, even if painful and quite possibly a blow to our economy.

So you would imperil our economy just to stick it to the President? Are you really that small?

Thankfully, the market doesn’t seem to care about the shutdown, up another 100 plus points today.

Trump seems to have no problem imperiling the economy to stick it to the Feds and non-MAGAts. Didn't hear you complaining about that.

As pointed out earlier in the thread, the military has a TINY FRACTION of the air traffic controllers needed to keep air traffic running at the capacity to which we are accustomed. And they still wouldn’t be paid. It would be chaos.

Unless he is completely off his rocker, no.

News is starting to present this idea.

What would the emergency be? That he didn't get his lollipop?

There wouldn't be any emergency, he seems to be going "off his rocker" and for what ever reason that possibility is being fed to the media. I think Trump is just plain nuts now.

Exactly what is he planning to win?

The funding fight.

There really isn't a fight. Trump has over a billion unspent on this from last year. He has to make a case why he needs more when he barely spent what he asked for before. This is all crap theater on the part of Trump and McConnell.

Is he nuts? Why haven't they spent it?

I mean, you usually don't get funds renewed if you don't spend the all the previous year. Trump really is nuts, andthknk this supporters are simple.

Vet raised 18million dollars from regular old Joe Shmoes, and you still think the people don't want a wall?

I'm glad all of you on the east coast wearing your suits and ties know what REAL people want. Get a grip and come down south

So pay up and build your precious wall if it's so important to you. No one else cares.

...and the people who contributed are so uneducated, they didn’t even realize that money can’t go toward the wall. Where will the money end up?

Where is the south you are referring to? The people along the land without a wall do not want it. The elected a congressman who explicitly campaigned against the wall. My guess is you are in a rural area that takes more from the feds than it gives and are unaffected by illegal immigration.
