How long will the shutdown last?

Add protections in there for Dreamers, and care and custody standards for immigrants in detention, and he can have his damned wall.

Not at all. But OP seemed to want an honest answer, so I tried my best to give her one. The truth is there’s not much that the OP or anyone else can do about it, other than perhaps phone their representatives daily and demand that they approve the money for the wall. Otherwise this very likely will drag on and on.

Oh, so that’s why you used laughing emojis?

My cousin works not in the DMV and has a FR position with the TSA. She’s a single parent to a 2 year old, and is responsible, reserved, kind. She should be in this position because you think it’s hilarious to have someone CURRENTLY working for zero pay in national security because you think it’s just marvelous to joke about six more years.

The cruelty of you supporters - don’t bother lying, it’s unbecoming - is f-cking amazing.

Why not blame Speaker Pelosi and the Dems? It takes two to tango, as they say.

He has folded on pretty much everything else. Why not this?

Actually, he won last year’s shutdown crisis over DACA. No reason to believe he won’t win again. I think he realizes that shutdowns are one of his most effective tools.

Huh?

How did he win?

DACA receipients still have protection provided through court ruling and he does not have the $25B Chuck Schumer was willing to offer. That’s in my book is called not winning!

Right. The Dreamers have temporary protection via court order, not a permanent legislative fix. The Senate Democrats insisted on a legislative solution during last year’s shutdown, but then eventually folded. So the President won that round.

When a terrorist takes someone hostage for ransom normal people blame the terrorist. They don’t blame others who don’t want to give into the terrorist’s demand!

I don’t accept your comparison, but the President already has a helicopter. All he needs is $5 billion in unmarked bills.

I'm sorry, PP . I was the one who used the laughing emojis. That was not to make fun of anyone's suffering. My spouse is a Fed. I was implying that it was absurd to think the Democrats were ones standing in the way while in reality the Orange Toddler is the one throwing the tantrum.

How did Trump win? He gave up 25 billion and is now begging for 5 billion or less.

Can’t fix stupid, can we?

Democrats did not fold. They demanded legislative solutions in exchange for $25B for the wall. Trump was negotiating in bad faith and demanded more. The failure of the negotiations is on Trump. DACA situation is at the same place it was before Trump cancelled it to use the dreamers as pawns. Since the dreamers are not under imminent threat, Democrats will address the situation when they have complete legislative majority. So, no it’s not a win for your orange buffoon!

Rome wasn’t built in a day. $5 billion is a great start. Assuming he will be in office six more years (we shall see), it will be fully funded. He will of course campaign on it again next year, which is all the more reason he can’t afford to (and won’t) lose this fight.

That kind of nasty rhetoric is not warranted. And you’re wrong, the Dreamers are in a very precarious situation. Eventually the Supreme Court will overturn the lower court decision, and they will be subject to removal. If the Dems were smart, they would trade the wall for the Dreamers. Could still happen, we shall see.

The democrats had no intension of actually giving that $25 billion. Kind of like how they traded amnesty for stricter border enforcement and last time. We got the amnesty but no border enforcement.

DACA receipients have protection only until the SC rules. Hard to imagine it has a legal leg to stand on. If a president has the authority to create it then another president has the authority to cancel it. Its deferred action, not permanent solution.

If they trade the border wall for DACA the wall construction needs to be tied to specific DACA milestones. So before one DACA permanent residency card is issued wall construction must begin.

Are you obtuse? He gave up 5 times more money than he is scrounging for now. Why?
Is he again going to campaign on Mexico paying for the wall? It takes a special kind of stupid to be a Trump supporter.

When your dear leader is holding a large group of unrelated people hostage for his whim it is hard not to get annoyed! But did you not know that Democrats offered up the wall in exchange of dreamers protection and Trump reneged at the last moment? He can not be trusted.
