Why is it that Dems always feel intellectually and morally superior? It takes a special kind of narcissist. Anyway, the President didn’t give up anything. A federal district court threw a wrench into last year’s shutdown negotiations when it decided to intervene in the DACA saga. But as mentioned, that is not a permanent fix, and neither the court nor the Dems have done the Dreamers any favors. |
DP - curious what's the "nasty rhetoric" you cite? Are you referring to the phrase "orange buffoon"? What is nasty about that? 1) He is orange. 2) He is a buffoon. There is no denying either of those statements. And really, if you are a Trump supporter you have ABSOLUTELY NO moral high ground to stand on when it comes to "nasty rhetoric." Please. The president sets the tone and the tone he has set is nasty. Or do you not read his twitter account or see how he acts at his rallies? |
Actually you're a little obtuse. 1. The 25B number D's are throwing around was an appropriation, not a penny of it funded. He didn't walk away from anything, it was an empty envelope. 2. DACA was found unconstitutional. It's still in place only under a temporary stay. Keep holding your breath. 3. Mexican's currently remit 50M per year to mexico. DT has the authority to put a tax on that (say 10%) and fully fund the wall. |
So why is DJT shutting down the government instead of taxing money to Mexico if it’s that simple? He promised us that Mexico would pay for the wall, so what is the holdup? |
I was referring to the PP’s comment that “you can’t fix stupid.” As far as I am aware, personal attacks are against forum rules. |
Because they are. |
You're obtuse, don't bother denying it. And what a lame attempt to move the "Mexico is paying for the wall" goalposts. What prevents Trump from "putting a tax on that" instead of shutting down government? Then again, it does take a special kid of dumb to support Trump. |
I just checked my trusty 8-ball. It says "Ask Again Later". |
With all the rants, schadenfreude and hate for Trump and the GOP over the last three years, might I ask how do you like it? |
Oh Brother. 1. That was the deal. 25B in wall money for DACA. It didn't happen because Trump backed out. That's the only reason. 2. Only thing that may be unconstitutional is whether the President had the authority to implement without Congress. There is no question tjat Congress can authorize by legislation, which the Democrats would prefer. 3. If you think we can't stop people and drugs without a wall, how are we going to stop illegal money transfers? |
About as much as I liked Bush Srs' jokes about "Taxachusetts," and that was back when Republicans were considered "nice." |
+1 million unpaid American workers while Trump breaks his promises again |
He can just build the wall with his own $5B and have Mexico reimburse him directly with interest. No need for Congress. |
I did not read this whole thread but I'm a taxpayer. I make in the lower five digits and I am seriously pissed off. If we don't have the money to properly fund veterans health care or feed kids breakfast at school in the morning (I don't care who their parents are) and I can't afford to go to the doctor (please don't insert the illegal immigrants dog whistle here because it has nothing to do with why I can't afford healthcare) I certainly cannot see how we can afford to build a large structure that will be obsolete in five years. |
Summation: I pay taxes and I want my money spent responsibly just like conservatives do. |
