You remind me of the Trump supporters yelling about his packed stadiums in a pandemic while Biden had 6 people at a town hall. Guess who won? There are over 185,000 students in FCPS which means you pitiful 5,000 signatures (assuming all are legitimate) is nothing. |
You all have been 'bullying' Tholen for a year. You can't take a day of legal celebrations in your opponent's favor? |
5000 out of 1.16 million. Whoop de woo. |
Dont be a bully. 5000 was enough to get her into a court room and send a message that she has and continues to fail in her job. Dont be so offended that some dont like the job she is doing - just accept it and we'll talk more in 2023. |
We've been asking her to do her job; she didnt so we organized and brought her to court - and what happened yesterday was one Dem bailing out another Dem. |
Wow - ok how about 5000 people in Dranesville District. total population 116,000. Assuming 2/3rds are adults/registered voters gets us to around 38,000. Assuming 50% voter turnout gets us to 19,000. Now how does the 5,000 signatures look? whoop de woo indeed. elaine is in big trouble in 2023. Hopefully she won't run at all. If she does, she will lose. |
Maybe you should have told yourself the same thing in 2020. We told you a recall wouldn't work and you were stuck with the board members you just voted in on December 12th, 2019. Too bad. Could have saved yourself a lot of ridiculous vitriol. |
Oh please. The judge who tossed your baseless recall out of court is the former General Counsel for the NRA. |
I know quite a few people in Dranesville who didn't think the recall petition would succeed and didn't bother signing (and were right), but will vote for anyone but Tholen if she runs again. Many are people who voted for her before. |
She did her job. You jist didn’t agree with her decisions. That doesn’t mean she should be recalled. A bunch of very entitled people tried this stunt and lost. |
Presumably the hands of the judge - who had refused to grant a prior motion to quash the proceeding - were largely tied when the Democratic prosecutor refused to present the case. |
DP, but there are a lot of people in her district who don't agree with Tholen's decisions, whether it was her decisions about keeping schools closed, extending Brabrand's contract for a year, going along with TJ admissions changes that reduce the number of Dranesville students getting into TJHSST, or adjusting school boundaries to favor wealthy Langley. I guess local Democratic activistscan keep calling everyone in Tholen's district who feels let down "entitled," but it doesn't position them very well for the next election. |
| You really don’t understand elections. Fine, don’t vote for her again but the recall was a political effort with no basis that was designed to keep up division and anger. |
And will create more backlash/division that works against you. Any moderate Democrat who might have been frustrated by some of the SB policies has been now been made aware of how awful (and short-sighted) the opposition is. |
Tholen is unpopular in Dranesville now for so many reasons that it really doesn't matter that the recall petition failed. She is politically toxic and the local Democrats who had her back out of a sense of blind party loyalty don't seem to realize how much they are diluting their brand in the process. |
