This message is for Elaine - Who knows what will happen in court. But I ask you, if you are not removed before the next election, please do not run again. Please step out of the way. Please make room for someone who will focus on kids and educational standards not politics and the narrow demands of your support-base. The recall petition against Tholen got tossed out of court this morning.

Neither spouse nor I signed the petition because we knew the legal standard for a recall would be so hard to meet. Doesn't mean we think Tholen is doing a good job - quite the contrary.

Am reading different things. Read one report that said the judge refused to grant Tholen's motion to quash the proceeding but that a Democratic prosecutor then refused to present the case. Apparently, Steve Descano, the Commonwealth Attorney for Fairfax, claimed he had a conflict of interest and then passed it off to a different Commonwealth's Attorney, another Democrat from Charlottesville, who refused to prosecute.

So one way or the other the fix was always going to be in.

"I was happy to hear the special prosecutor tell the judge that the case was about a policy disagreement, and that the recall process is not a vehicle to resolve such disputes with elected officials and governing bodies. That is why we have elections."

So you silly 5000 people who are just upset about covid - get out of elaine's way as she is putting this behind her and focusing on in-person learning.

So the recall group now has a mailing list with over 5000 names of people who wanted Tholen removed, whereas Tholen probably has a few dozen core supporters consisting mostly of current and former School Board members and local Democratic Party officials?

Come 2023 it may turn out to have been a case of winning a battle but losing the war.

It’s not like Elaine was ever that enthusiastic about being on the School Board, or cares about much of anything other than keeping Langley rich and free of any economic diversity, but why would she make such an announcement now and then be a lame duck for two years?
