Completely agree. I still can't get over that arrest tape.

Except that was before she was elected and people still voted her in. It’s like that Montana candidate, Gianforte, who assaulted a member of the press and then was elected Governor! Americans do not care.

Did we see the video before the election? I don't remember seeing it.

The video didn’t come out until this past January.

She talked about it during the election, how she was unjustly targeted and profiled because her hajib.

to be accurate about Montana:
1) that was his race for the House seat
2) many people had already voted and the assault happened a day or two before the official election
I'm not excusing it, and I do actually agree with you that many people just do not care about bad behavior. Just wanted to make sure we got the facts straight, though.

Re: Omeish - I made sure to go vote at the Dem headquarters on a Sunday trying to keep her OFF the ticket that year. I was not at all impressed with her - she made stuff up in public forums constantly. If you don't know, just say you don't know and will find out. In the general, I did NOT check her name. It was my only way to protest her being on the ticket.

The Tholen recall hearing has been rescheduled to the 20th. Regardless of where the judge comes out on the legal standard for removal, she’s a hypocrite who doesn’t deserve another term.

if you find a decent opponent, let me know.

Do you know if tholen will appear in court? If so, what court and time?

There will be far superior options to Tholen in 2023, if not sooner.

Depends on how the motion to quash is ruled on Friday. If it's rejected then they'll set that. If the case is quashed it's over.

I know the attack happened before his House election. What I was trying to say was that people elected him as Governor later even after his earlier attack and conviction.

(NP) Where were they before? Why didn't they run earlier?

I'm not a big fan of recalls over decisions required by the role, even if you don't like the decision. Elected for a reason, stick it out until the next season absent somethign serious, like abuse of power or crime. Otherwise, we waste a ton of money, time, and effort to undermine the election system every time a person makes a tough call you don't like.

GOP hasn't produced one in a decade. I have little hope there

Either of Tholen's two opponents in 2019 would have been better, if only because they would not have been just one more member of the same choir constantly rubber-stamping each other's decisions.

Doubt she'll run again, and doubt ever more she could win again. Granted people often vote a party ticket for SB elections, but the fact that OpenFCPS got enough signatures to at least trigger her recall means she's damaged goods.

I agree with you - in most cases - - if you dont like a politician's decision, it should not trigger a recall. The difference here is she did nothing to put our kids back in classes; she renewed the superintendent's contract last year (dont get me going on him); and she delivered a meaningless boundary change. When you get to her level of incompetence, you need to be fired - so I fully support her recall in this instance. And Im embarrassed to say that I actually voted for her!

Same here. And to quote Pete Townshend, "Won't Get Fooled Again."
