Have you ever stopped to think about *why* Trump is refusing to bring him back to follow proper procedure/fix the paperwork?? |
Even accepting all you claim, let’s address the part in bold: How? How exactly must Trump “return” him, when El Salvador has refused to release him? Do you want Trump to send in The Marines to get him back? Moreover: Garcia is a citizen of El Salvador and he has no legal status whatsoever here. He has no visa to travel here. Before you mention TPS (which expires 9/2026), TPS is ONLY for aliens who are present in the USA; TPS cannot be substituted for a visa and TPS is not available for aliens outside the USA. Practically: in what legal manner can Garcia be brought into the USA? (even assuming his country lets him go). |
I love how whenever MAGA tries to justify deporting brown people it’s always “they didn’t follow the law, they should have done the right paperwork, etc.” But when the president of the United States does it then it’s totally fine and the libs are stupid for being upset. |
I have to wonder why you think it is a politically winning argument to demand that the US bring Kilmar back for *a third time* to be processed and deported again. SCOTUS made their ruling based on the literal paperwork being wrong, not the substance of the deportation. Besides. Kilmar is a citizen of Salvador and currently being held there on domestic charges. Seriously, who do we think we are to tell another nation they must give up a citizen of their nation to us? People care about secure borders and reduced crime. They do not care about paperwork snafus. |
snafu. Yes. I am aware it is because the sovereign government of El Salvador said no. What do you want, Trump to invade them and kidnap Kilmar? |
On a positive note for the Trump administration, we're not talking about SIGNALGATE anymore. With any luck for Trump, we'll have one of these lack-of-due-process incidents every 1-2 weeks to distract us even more from the s**tshow that is his administration. |
Oh please. No one believes that El Salvador has “refused” to return him. Bukele is doing exactly what Trump wants him to do because he is being paid $8 million and it’s obvious that if the US really asked for him back we could easily get him back. As the right wing judge on the 4th circuit put it, this case is just about the principle that you don’t get to illegally kidnap people from the US and then claim they lack any rights because they are outside the US. If you disagree with that you are an unAmerican Fascist. |
No. Considering his record of domestic violence restraining orders, he will not be allowed to adjust his status to greencard holder; either as a matter of law or discretion. His wife simply needs to move to El Salvador and hope for his release there, where they can live in peace in his country. |
So that he can set precedent that he can ignore future Supreme court rulings, obv. |
Are you at all familar with MS-13? They kill babies. I personally know one family whose daughter got wrapped up in MS-13 and they sent her back to El Salvador to keep her safe. But the gang made some calls back to the Homeland. They kidnapped her and cut her in half in the middle. Made her parents pay for each part of her. And I'm nasty for calling evil what it is. You're naive as hell. |
That is quite the unfounded conspiracy theory you have there! |
And so the next time Trump ignores the Supreme court, that will be ok? And when a future Dem leader does, that will be ok? (note that MAGAs were up in arms over Biden possibly ignoring the Supreme court on student loans but he did adapt approach within existing law so do not even try and say Biden did, as he did not) |
Are you familiar with the Supreme Court and 9 justices ruling against Trump? Do you want to establish precedent where a future president who is not your chosen party can do so, rinse and repeat? |
Trump has said he is not even going to *ask*. Considering the fact there is a contract for the U.S. to pay El Salvador for imprisoning people I imagine there may be financial incentive to cooperate with this request. Also Republicans have been allowed into the prison while Democrats have been denied access. You are being disingenuous if you think MAGA isn’t controlling what is going on there. |
Explain to me how you propose that Trump get Kilmar back from a sovereign nation who is refusing to comply, given that he's a citizen. We cant even get US citizens back from Hamas or Russia. Spitball some solutions. Should we trade Justin Bieber for him? Pay for his release? And to what end? To reprocess his deportation? |
