Texans are Texans, not Southerners. But we're definitely Americans. I really wonder about this thread. Are all the posters just amusing themselves or do they really believe any of this nonsense? |
I just believe the what they say and their actions. They say they are Texans first and want to leave the US. Are you saying we should not take a Texan for his word? A Texan will sell out the USA because Texans do not consider themselves American. |
I used to live in Texas. Texans like to play around with being independent and unique, but outside a few wackos, they consider themselves Americans. |
I'm a native Texan and lived there until I was in my early 30's. The place always had its nuts, but now they are normal. What a joke of a place. |
+1 - I'd actually like to see/read a few pieces on this. Texas has its own electrical grid and relatively little in the way of federal lands. And sure, petroleum is in decline, but the big petroleum companies (and even some not so big) are doing fine and know they have to change with the times. The greater Austin area is already a tech hub. I don't think Texas will actually leave the union, but I'd like to read about it nonetheless. |
A member of the State legislature filing a bill is not a rando. |
I know. It's laughable. In just a few years no car will run on gas, all plastic will disappear, no ships will cross the ocean, no planes will fly! It's definitely happening! |
Honestly, this. People are spending way too much time on online echo chambers (myself included) because we're all stuck at home and a lot of people are starting to get weird. |
Don’t let the door hit you one the way out. You can make Cruz your new president. He can reinstate slavery and only allow white landholding men the vote. |
You're an idiot. The only thing dumber than the Texas Rep filing this bill might be someone that thinks the petroleum industry is going to be obsolete anytime soon. |
|
He certainly is. |

Let them go

Because it would not end there. Democrats and republicans are not as monolithic as many would hope you believe. Many democrats oppose free, aka "other people pay for", abortions and support responsible gun ownership laws and education reform. Many Republicans support providing some forms of taxpayer funded birth control and a minimum wage and oppose free and open carry everywhere. So what do you do with the vast majority of moderates? Only the extremists will be happy in such a scenerario which means there will be even more secessions. The house divided will fall. |
