So now we listen to such talk with an ear that says maybe we should think about the unthinkable. I had that notion during the Thursday night Zoom session in which state Rep. Kyle Biedermann, R-Fredericksburg, announced that on Tuesday he will file legislation calling for a statewide vote on Texas secession from the United States...

Texit, like Brexit, is a peaceful political movement, its leaders said on the call. But on the margins, in the chat, some of the talk was about a call to arms should the U.S. seek to stop secession:

This reminds me of when a small city in my county wanted to become it's own. When it was time the county said "fine, but you must pay us for all of the gov't buildings in your city". They didn't have nearly enough money and dropped that nonsense immediately. I bet Texas has money but certainly not enough to buy their way out and then be able to support themselves afterwards.

Texas, like California, could easily be its own country. But there are plenty of reasons why they won't and shouldn't.

It sounds like their ultimate goal is to have the US try to stop them so they have an reason to go to combat. They want to use all their militia toys and just need an excuse to do it. I don't think they have thought about what happens after that point. They just want to play war. This pandemic needs to end soon. People have way too much time on their hands.
