DP here. Unless they force teachers back against their will, they won’t have enough willing staff to do more than that. That is the reality. |
Why do teachers and parents care so much right now? There is time. I am a high school teacher, not in FCPS, and have my class lists. I don’t know the students and will not do anything with these since schedules will change a lot before school starts. Students and parents can’t see them yet because schedules are still changing so much. I have no idea who initially picked hybrid and who picked virtual so I don’t know if classes are mixed. As a parent, I will likely find out my child’s elementary FCPS teacher two days before school starts. This is a good policy. When classes are released the parent gossip starts and young kids become very upset about who is not in their class. None of that is helpful. |
| i'm confused... who/what are these 'hybrid' kids to which you refer? i thought all grades in FCPS are 100% distance learning. who and what is hybrid? |
The kids who picked hybrid when we had to choose hybrid or virtual. We are supposedly only all virtual for quarter 1. Most don’t believe this but if we actually do go back to school they will need to start with separate groups or redo the entire master schedule mid year. |
| The split is dead. They can’t staff both models. |
FCPS hasn’t said this. They will re-evaluate for the end of quarter 1. |
And I was a betting person - I would mentally prepare for the re-evaluation to be - more online for everyone. |
Our principal said they are dividing the classes based on the original hybrid/DL choice so that if we ever move to in-person classes the transition will be smoother as the classes will already be set. |
| Ours said opposite No division anymore |
Our ES principal said the same - it's too complicated, esp. with LLIV classes and advanced math, etc. If there is a hybrid opening then they would deal with it at that time. |
| HAAA what a joke! anyone who thinks that hybrid will be an option for Quarter 2 or any time during the 20-21 school year is kidding themselves. I can't believe FCPS principals/etc are keeping up appearances by suggesting classes by assigned based on previous hybrid/DL choice. Anyone who picked 'hybrid' needs to realize hybrid doesn't exist any more, you'r all the same: distance learning 100%. |

I have one at an ES and one at an MS.
The MS principal said that they would attempt to keep the classes split along hybrid/virtual selections to facilitate an eventual transition to the hybrid model, but acknowledged that it wouldn't be possible in all cases. The ES hasn't said yet, but since my kid there is in the LLIV and there's only one AAP class per grade, his class will be combined virtual/hybrid. No idea how they would handle that in the combined hybrid/virtual model, they were never able to answer that before the all-virtual announcement was made. Bottom line, they went all-virtual largely because they couldn't staff separate virtual and hybrid classes, so there's no way they can fully separate the classes now. |
| We were told by the end of the month and they were not differentiating between hybrid and DL kids because at this point, if they phase kids back in, it will be all kids. |
LOL |
This is not true. I've spoken to our school's principal, plus my neighbor who is the AP at another elementary. You are wrong. |
