At the Elementary level, students will definitely be grouped by DL/hybrid. This is to be sure that if we are able to resume in school, the groups will not be broken up. At my ES, all students are being taught by teachers from our school.

This is not true. They will try, but there will be classes with both, such as Local Level 4.

The county has told the schools to do their best to divide by DL/hybrid if possible. In many cases it will not be possible, and if students do return, a reshuffle will be necessary. I also think they will probably ask parents again what they want since everything will be different at that point, but who knows. Really, nobody knows anything.

They will not be separated per Rachna Sizemore's town hall the other night.

Our principle told us that classes were being split based on hybrid v DL selection. He said they’re doing it this way so it’ll be easier to transition to hybrid, if conditions allow. I think it’s funny that they’re still keeping up appearances that we might go in person at any point this year.

For the love of God, I hope you are not a teacher.

PRINCIPLE ??????????????????????????????

Remember, the princiPAL is your PAL......OMG!

That time of the month?

I'm sorry, but I've noticed a trend in teachers who cannot spell and have incredibly poor grammar. It's disappointing to say the least.

Ours said on Friday end of next week, so around this Thursday or Friday.

All of this stuff seems school-specific. We already have a laptop schedule also.

It is school specific and principal specific. We have gotten emails from one principal with a google form taking laptop requests and a tentative schedule. We have virtual principal meetings for families scheduled for later this week to update us.

That poster came back 2 minutes after posting and corrected what was most likely a typo.

It's going to be even funnier to see your reaction when it happens.

I chose hybrid, I’ll be thrilled! I just don’t think it’s going to happen.

Reading on this forum made me feel as though schools wouldn't open until fall 2021. But then, today, I heard that NY is allowing schools to reopen. And I see the graphs on the VDH site looking good for NoVA. https://www.vdh.virginia.gov/coronavirus/covid-19-daily-dashboard/

It give me hope that we won't be ruled by fear forever. I am hopeful that on 8/15 Brabrand will have a plan to get the most vulnerable kids back in classrooms this fall.

So many on these forums certain that no one is going back until Fall 2021. But no one really has any idea.

I'm a teacher and already received my class list. So you're probably definitely know by the 24th. They'll be asking teachers to reach out to families a lot before school starts.

Our FCPS ES principal said we should be looking for assignments on Sept. 4.

Actually Nrabrabd said tonight “in the interest of transparency” that this wasn’t likely and if students went back before a vaccine it would be “in cohorts” of the most needy/vulnerable. Which prob means SPED kids and FARMS families (bc of food needs)

This is why in school isn't happening any time soon. Imagine switching high schoolers around to different classes mid semester. Starting with a new teacher in the middle of a semester is disruptive. They will also need to keep all teachers teaching a class on exactly the same schedule/pace so kids don't have to catch up if the new teacher is ahead.

I'm a lawyer who uses the word whether all the time. I accidentally typed weather, probably because I was multitasking, and got berated by someone on DCUM. Oftentimes it's just a mistake, not a lack of knowing what's correct. Yesterday I typed two instead of too in am IM to a friend. People aren't necessarily proof reading here, so give it a rest.

I missed the town hall tonight. Brabrand actually said it's unlikely that kids will be back to in person school before a vaccine?
