When places like FL open schools and their death toll continues to surge, I think we'll be anything but foolish. MCPS made the responsible choice. Kudos to them for having the courage to do the right thing.

Do we look like fools compared to, say, Florida or Texas, because we had a state mask mandate and we stayed shut down until the stats showed it was fairly safe to open up?! No, we are in great shape, compared to them.

Secondly, our kids, teachers, and staff members will be ALIVE! Who gives a s&*# how we "look"?!

You will see many, many places implement DL for the fall, and I really hate to think what will happen in non-rural areas which don't.

Maine is 35K square miles and has a population of 1.3 million. Maine has a population density of 41 people per square mile.

Maryland has a population density of 594 people per square mile. And Maryland is way more diverse.

Population density makes a huge difference in the spread of Covid.
