No, more like "I CaNt StAnD To BE Al1OnE wItH MyKId aT HoMe AnYm0re!1"

I especially love the ones who think it is detrimental to their children's mental health to spend time with them.

What's detrimental to my child's mental health is having to spend 8-9 hours a day alone while his parents work. I would love to just be able to spend all day with him but... mama has a job.

What's even more detrimental is for them to grow up an orphan....

What is the percentage of ages under 60 dying again? Oh yes, less than 1% and that includes all the ones that died in the beginning when they were overwhelmed and clueless with how to treat it.

Stop being so dramatic.

I know this hysteria is over the top. It's a freaking pandemic the likes of which we've never seen. Just accept that school is unsafe at this time and calm down.

I think that the last two weeks has shown that those who have committed to starting with DL are not looking like fools. Too many school rushed to open up and get kids into school that they didn't put adequate precautions in place to do so safely. The fact that there are now dozens of schools that planned for in-person or hybrid learning modules that are doing an about-face and going to distance learning leaving teachers with less than 2 weeks preparation for distance learning.

The fact that there are at least fives states, double digits of school districts and and many students and staff that have either tested positive or come into contact with students and staff that did test positive and are home quarantining. And school districts are flailing trying to come up with reasonable ways to convert the in-person and hybrid learning systems to adapt to hundreds of students that now have to be accommodated with distance learning options.

Whereas local schools here (excluding MCPS) announced early that they were distance learning and the teachers have had 6-8 weeks to plan for distance learning. MCPS is the one that looks like fools hemming and hawing and dragging their heels on making the announcement with teachers trying to figure out what and how to plan for school. They've now lost 4 extra weeks of planning and work (in some cases work that was done to potentially accommodate in-person or hybrid learning being for naught) and are in the same boat as those schools that announced hybrid or in-person and then switched on their teachers last minute.

The likes of which we've never seen? You know there's been pandemics before, right?

Exactly as predicted - schools that opened for F2F are already shutting down.

“It is proven children have no significant risk,” he said during a July 15 TV appearance. It’s a line that Trump has parroted but that hasn’t been borne out in districts where in-person learning has resumed: Schools in Georgia, North Carolina and Indiana have had to shut down shortly after starting the year because of positive cases"

Unless you are donating every excess dollar you have to cancer research, heart disease research, TB vaccines, and food banks you can shut up because you are not doing your part to keep people alive such that you are allowed to make statements like this.

“Pandemic” is a meaningless term.

It seems like you were right all along and the Trumpkins per usual are wrong. Still they’re not very big on facts.

Well they were always going to look foolish- out of control infection rates and lack of proper precautions. What could go wrong?!

But the disaster down south doesn’t necessarily mean F2F cannot happen safely- I’ll be curious to see how it goes in the northeastern states. And there are some districts down south that are learning and improving. My nephews district usually returns in early August but delayed a month to make sure they were ready. SIL said they already making Adjustments as they see how things are playing out elsewhere. Now they’re in state with overall high rates but their county and those around them are better. Maybe it won’t work, but i can understand why they want to try.
