SYA and Alexandria are also undefeated, but with less games played. I wouldn't cheer so much right now since you are only 4 games in.

There are many other good teams in that age group/division so it's too early to cheer. SYA, Alexandria, Herndon, and Arlington are all very good teams. Too early.

LMVSC hasn't been relevant in a long time, maybe ever. No issues with a parent getting excited about them winning, but I agree with the previous post that this age group is very strong in the area. I'm actually shocked to see Loudoun at the bottom, do they post who they played? I poked around out of curiosity but it looks like schedules are only viewable moving forward. No scores either..

I think Loudoun's top team may have become weakened with the departure of players due to their loss of the DA. Some of those players left for VDA. With the loss of those players and having to pull the better players from the top CCL, the teams going from small sided to full field, that second team became naturally weaker.

Makes sense, I've always thought they had such a large player pool that they could field 2-3 top teams. I know of a few kids in other age groups that migrated to Barca as well.

The past few years their second teams have not been as strong as expected from their large player pool. I think Alexandria and SYC may be the teams to beat in the area outside of DA. The Alexandria team may be better than some of the DA teams.

If you are not in DC UNITED DA then you might as well quit soccer. It was made loud and clear all other DA are a joke. Which makes you other clubs even more of a joke

We opened the season against SYA and I can argue that they might be the team to beat. I don't know any of the families, but I can recognize some of the players by numbers and it doesn't seem like they have been hurt by DA/ECNL like our club.
Anonymous
It's interesting to hear about some of the clubs that do not have DA and are able to retain the true 1st team. I know Alexandria still has it's core and sounds like SYA does too. I've also seen some of the rural clubs that don't feed into a DA team also retain top talent.

Goes to show you there are still really good competition out there in a non DA world.

Someone clearly has not seen DA teams play. Boys non-DA squads will offer fine competition at club and in HS, but don’t be fooled into thinking the level of play is even close to the DA. That matter has been settled for several years now...

So teams that left DA are no longer as good as DA all the sudden? Sorry DA fanboy, logic isn't there.

All the local boys 07 DA teams last year are on youtube. You can find them easily. Their games are a pretty mixed bag, as you would expect at that age (especially early in the year, as they learned to play together). If you have not seen these other non-DA teams play, you may want to reserve judgment. Some pretty good kids left the DAs to play at some of these non-DA teams. Most DA kids aren't going to last in the DA or well beyond, at least outside DCU and Bethesda. If you are talking much older DA players, where growth has evened out and true talent has emerged, then your point about DA v. non-DA is at its strongest obviously.

They "left" the DA at U13? Why, to play High School? LOL

Alexandria never was and never will be DA

DC United doesn't have a U13 DA team this year. A lot of the players went to Achilles FC. Their top 07 team is incredibly strong and won MD State Cup in U12.

Is CCL even still relevant at this age? This list looks filled with B teams from bigger clubs like Arlington, Alexandria, Loudoun, whose top teams are DA, EDP and ECNL.

There is a little thing called school. Most of these kids are entering middle school and can't afford the time to commute and do their studies. We left the DA after U12 so my son can properly adjust, we went back to a CCL team and yes, he could have stayed and played DA but as a family we felt it was important to prioritize school first and not burn him out with soccer. Our choice and it's probably not popular here and didn't go over well for his former DA club, but it was our choice.

The Arlington and Loudoun second teams are not as strong as the previously mentioned strong teams in the division/age group. Maybe Arlington is still strong enough to compete. Alexandria's EDP team is the same as the CCL team.
