Congrats, you daughter is awesome. Move on.

Man are you cynical. I don't have a daughter. Nor do I know anyone who plays for Loudoun. My son plays on one the teams trying to overtake the Loudoun girls on the Youth Soccer Rankings. : ) I was just pointing out that there must be a one hell of a flaw in Youth Soccer Ranking's algorithm. I wasn't trying to cheerlead for the Loudoun girls.

You read it wrong, it shows that way but it is not what you thought. There no ranking for a team " out of boys AND girls" (your words), especially at U13. Points are just points, do not mix boys and girls for sports.

So this is a thread about BOYS soccer. If you have girls, awesome, but how about a parallel, separate thread for them?

I'm not talking about GotSoccer, which is based on points. It's Youth Soccer rankings where you can filter by boys, girls or boys and girls. The rankings are based on a Youth Soccer Rankings "score".

Believe me, if you think in these terms all the time, you probably should quit your job .

Achilles and Pipeline in the top division.
Calverton Cerritos in the 2nd
Potomac in the 3rd
Brausa in 4th
Freedom in 5th
First VA teams Burke and SYA show up in 6th
Burke, SAC White, and SYA in the 6th
Bethesda Blue in 7th
Calvert in 8th
Go Premier and Arlington in 9th
Frederick and SAC in 11th

Not a good showing for VA teams.

SAC Columbus Day Tournament only has one VA team applied and that SYC Orange (B Team).

I suppose most of the VA teams entered the Bethesda Tournament. I see that LMVSC Red, Loudoun Red, and McLean ECNL are doing Nation's Cup and not Bethesda.

Mixed results for DMV, but some showed well.

Where do you see the list of teams doing Nation's Cup? Can you please post the link?

DMV is too fragmented to accurately use these rankings for anything more than pure entertainment. Most of these teams are plus/minus 3 rankings.

I think Youth Soccer Rankings, although not perfect, is the best tool out there for tournament directors to use to determine divisions. I actually think it's quite reliable. I don't know of anything better that's for sure. certainly not GotSoccer.

It's just aggregated a bit differently than GotSoccer, but it's all from the same source which leans heavily on teams that play lots of tournaments or has a league that tracks schedules in got soccer.

Got Soccer is based on points. So winning (or being a finalist) tournaments gets you points. Each tournament is assigned different points. You also get points for winning leagues, state cup, etc. So for example, say a team wins a tournament in the top division. They may get 1500 Got Soccer points. The finalist might get 750 and the 3rd place team zero. The champion and finalist in the 2nd flight gets points as well. and so on. however, why should the champ of the 2nd flight get more points than the 3rd place team in the top flight? So this is a problem. Youth Soccer looks at every head to head match up and they take into consideration the score. So that 3rd place team in the top division won't be "punished" for not winning under the Youth Soccer system. They can actually move up if they played a close game against better competition. To the best of my knowledge, Youth Soccer does not pull in CCL games or NPL games. It pulls in EDP and NCSL games for sure. Anyway, I think it's a much better system to look at head to head results as opposed to being based solely on points given to winning tournaments, etc.
