The current ECNL teams aren't magnets anymore. Like someone else said before...BRYC is the same BRYC team for years. Same with McLean. Loudoun may have had a little change with the DA but it's not like ECNL is a draw for kids and parents so there is no reason that ECNL teams should be elite. They are just another big club. My son is a decent soccer player and two of these clubs are relatively nearby and could easily make the team but he has ZERO desire to join them and neither do I. They offer nothing for us...especially at the younger ages such as U15 and younger.

Agree that they aren't magnets. With a combined record in the OBGC Cup of 1-1-7 (W-D-L), they can't say that they can't find competition in the DMV. Why drive to the Carolinas for average league games, all the competition you need is right here.

Because there are always consideration for the "Path" for the future, the exposure of the higher level. Staying in DMV local team does not take your player to anywhere.
If you do not join so called national level now, it will be difficult for you to join in the future. the difference between the "good player" and the "not so good player" is small, you'd better take your spot as earlier as possible, until you get eliminated/cut from the team. same applies to national team or all college teams, and to all other sports.

Eventually the college coaches will realize that their is only S coming down the boys ECNL pathway. It's only a matter of time.

No need to call players "S". You could've made your point without that, just by saying college coaches will realize boys ECNL isn't generating college caliber players.

I don't think that realization will happen "eventually." I think it's happened from day 1.

There's a misconception by some on this board that boys ECNL is the clear #2 to boys DA, whereas for the girls it's debatable which league is really the highest level, and the answer may be different depending on where you are in the country. That's accurate for the girls but not for the boys - ECNL is not #2. There may be some good teams, but overall it's just another fairly competitive league - just with way more travel and expense. In truth the 2nd level for the boys is probably the USYS National League.

Well I hope everyone one of the BRYC 07 boys studies hard in school to get academic scholarships. Based off what I saw last weekend the 07 boys won't have many colleges interested in them for athletic scholarships.

You can say that about the entire age group, 2-4% will play college.
