Radicalization of White men/shootings

Anonymous
Don't forget the shooting in Santa Barbara in 2014.

There was a middle school shooting in the 1990s, where I first noticed it was mostly yong white men who were feeling dejected and rejected by girls they had an interest in getting.

Young men, both black and white, need strong positive male role models in their lives.

When yuppies and double income households started to be more successful, crime was going down in the inner cities, starting in the Clinton/Baby Boomer Era of rule that we've been subjected to for decades.

Crime was decreasing in the inner city, some say due to increased incarceration rates of offenders (black males) and increased access to abortion. Freakonimcs is the book that attributes lower crime rates to abortion.

We are a disgusting country.

This has more to do with young white men feeling entitled and throwing their little temper tantrum rages when they don't get what they want.

Never thought in a million years I would ask this question but: what are white people going to do about addressing the radicalization of young white men? The Sante fe shooter, the Texas bomber, Sandy Hook shooter, columbine, Parkland, racist/warrior cop police officers taking out young black kids, recent lynchings of black people in the south...all these events were conducted by people with Associations or interest in white supremacist and far right ideologies. Im disappointed but not surprised that major media is not picking up on these connections. But seriously: whenever other groups complain, we always point to “Chicago” or LA. We pin the blame back and ignore valid concerns. This is despite the thousands of non profits and activists in those communities that are working to fix issues in their own communities. What are white people doing to fix their issues? Can we have a mature stand-alone discussion about this w/o putting down other ethnicities. Or maybe we simply like the idea of American schools being more dangerous than Afghanistan as long as we don’t address the elephant in the room?

How about stop bashing them and support them as we do girls and minorities?

Well I am more than happy to do this but what exactly do you mean? Supporting their protests when they are being legally or illegally discriminated against? I can get on board with that. Looking for equal pay for equal work? Sure. Help me under what “supporting white men” means? If it is the normal support your children and their aspirations, that makes complete sense. But I don’t get what as a group they have to deal with that makes them stand out.

Do your own research. Santa FE HS murderer followed Trump and Pro Gun sites. Stop excusing behaviors of white men that you would condemn of brown men/non-Christians.

Not radicalized and not white supremacists. Mentally ill. Do something about that and you do something about school shootings.
[but it’s still more dangerous to drive in maryland]

One of these days people might listen to what’s happening to these kids but it’s obviously too soon for that.

They are not terrorists in that they do not have a political motive. But they do attempt to create fear in the population beyond the people they kill, just for their own feeling of power over society.

Supporting white men means exactly that. If you think there is a problem with disaffected white males, find ways to support them. When we thought there was a problem with girls and self esteem, sports, math we found ways to support them. Girls are now overtaking males in higher education. Signed, a woman

Yeah but women came up with ideas on what to do socially, legally, and charitably to move the needle. If there is a “white male” problem, white males have to step up with what they need. Sitting around calling other people with other concerns “libtards” and “snowflakes” is really not cutting it.

People should read this New Yorker article about school shootings. These aren't political-type terrorists. This is more of an issue of stopping the ball rolling on copycats. The article doesn't offer solutions, though.

Men—and especially white men—are bombarded with negative shit all the time (e.g., manspreading, mansplaining, etc.). For young men just look at groups and clubs on high school and college campus—every race, females, Lbgt, etc have special groups but none for white males—I guess they don’t have any identity issues or need support. No other group is getting hit with such negativity and discrimination. I would hate to be a young, white male in America today and know more than a few who plan to leave the US after finishing their degrees as they feel there is no future for them in the US. I can’t blame them. If you are a young, white male be prepared to go to the back of the line no matter how stellar your credentials.

As a mother of only daughters (1/2 Hispanic at that ) I don't look at our society and thank my lucky stars that they were born girls and are going to get all of the supposed "advantages" of that. It's still better to be a WASP. And I am a WASP.

They are told that their family will be taken care of. Also, they're attracted to that extremist ideology because they are poor and see no other options. They buy into the propaganda that it's the only way they can change their circumstance.

So there are no poor Catholics, Jews, or Christians in the world?

Boys and young men need strong positive male role models in their lives.

It's not that complicated.

We don't need MORE mandated government special snowflake programs to support them.

There's bad apples in whatever way you want to group people - doesn't matter if it's religious, political or social. The big mistake is generalizing.

Your daughters will get to check the box that they're Hispanic. They might actually get some special privileges from being part of a protected class in hiring, promotion, scholarships, etc.

More? Please identify a single “special snowflake program.”

We’ll never get a rational response from you.

Do you not see how this sounds exactly like people who say “there are no black dissaffected youth? There are no Muslim disaffected youth? Why are there only white disaffected youth who shoot up schools?”
