50's for Peabody (OOB with sibling pref)
60's for AppleTree LP
80's for Tyler SI
30's for Tyler traditional <- seems to be our best shot at the moment
170's for Maury
280's for CHM
270's for TR 4th
320's for SWS
130's for Ludlow-Taylor
Beers matched (but not sure we'd choose this over just staying in our current daycare's preschool program, and trying again next year for PK4)

Maybe you should've included Van Ness in your list?

Probably... I wasn't sure about it being a new school this year (even if it's reopening). But since we had Tyler, I should have included Van Ness!

Shining Stars #26
Marie Reed Dual, English Dominant #19
Shepherd #24

This is for PK4. Any hope we'll get in?

We got into Appletree LP PK3 with a number in the 100's last year, they get pretty far into their waitlist.

That's promising! We're #69, so fingers crossed that actually happens!

We got worse numbers last year for PK3 for these schools, PP. We were 101 after second round for AT @LP (might have been 120 originally), we got to be #1 on their WL by November and then we never heard back. I think you will very likely get into AT, and maybe even Tyler.

In at Appletree SW. #87 at Hyde (no preference).

Yikes, those are far apart. Do you live in Georgetown and work in L'Enfant?

Live in NW, work near the Mall. AT is actually easier (closer to my regular commute route) than Hyde. The trailers don't have a lot of curb appeal, though.
We're in a daycare now that has served us well -- swim lessons in the summertime, long hours and flexibility on dropoff and pickup, etc., and those features will be hard to part with. Although it would be a breathtaking relief to have all that tuition back in the bank.

You will have to cover summer camp, aftercare, professional development days, conference days, Spring Break etc. Moving from private daycare to DCPS reduced my childcare bill by about 55%. I could have brought that down somewhat more with a cheaper summer camp.

Yup, we had the same experience with our older child, whom we moved out of the daycare into our IB PK4 this past year. The truly ridiculous price tag we'll be paying this summer for camp for our 5yo is one of the big incentives to keep our younger child in daycare, which has a terrific summer program (swimming 3x/wk! for the 3yo's!) for a little more than 50% the cost of the camps near our home (which only offer water play to the youngest campers). Unfortunately for us, as soon as we leave the daycare, our child's seat goes to a waitlist family, so we don't have the option to leave for the school year and return for the summer.

We have friends at Two Rivers Young. They are very happy there.

PK3, matched for Miner (IB).

WL numbers:
#16 at Ludlow-Taylor (proximity preference)
#18 at JO Wilson

All else had hopelessly high waitlist numbers. Fingers crossed for L-T, but not optimistic.

I was shocked to get wait listed too since it seems we had a good lottery number. I would be happy at any of the schools.

Why the surprise? JO is a strong school. We got waitlisted there in the mid-30s for PK3 last year and didn't budge more than 1 or 2 spots. It's in demand.

+1. Might have moved more than 1-2 spots for us (not by much), but same thing here. We were in the high 30s and didn't get in.
