We are in PK there now. Last year there were 14 IB kids on the waitlist and all got spots. So there's a chance depending on how many decide to stay where they are (quite a few that I can name off the top of my head that we know in the neighborhood did this for this school year) and join us in K and if any of the embassy families get relocated last minute for whatever reason. The list moved up until at least the day before school last year (one of my child's friends got in the day before school started) and there may have been one more slot that moved after school started, but that would have been in the other class, so I'm not as sure of that.

Oyster PK4 Waitlist in the 30s. (Already forgot) IB English speaking.

Guess they aren't opening 3 new classes... So disappointed.

We were WL #6 (I think - somewhere right around there) last year in the PK3 Spanish class at Cleveland, English dominant. The list did not budge a single spot. The school confirmed that that meant we were #6 on a waitlist for 8 spots, i..e worse chances than if we were #6 on a regular PK3 class of 15 spots. Sorry - your chances are low!

Thanks thats what I feared. Oh well, I won't need to check for WL movement obsessively. I think I am going to turn by attention to Redfin........

Regarding siblings for PK3 at ITS to my understanding there are typically 8-9 siblings admitted per year out of 44 slots. That doesn't seem especially high. My older child attends ITS and my younger one has a sibling spot (matched) for PK3. I posted in another thread about this. To my knowledge there are not an unusually high number of siblings this year - in my older child's current class we were the only parents applying for a younger sibling.

can anyone clarify?

If PK4 kid is wait listed #7 to a school and his sibling who is PK3 is wait listed #90 to same school mean that if #7 wait listed kid gets in off the wait list, then the other one does too?

If #7 gets in, the other sibling will move up in the waitlist, behind the other ib sibling enrolled (if any).

The younger one would move up the waitlist, but not necessarily get in right away.

Not quite.

If PK4 kid is admitted then PK3 kid gets sibling preference and moves up the wait list ahead of other PK3 applicants who don't have a preference. So PK3 kid's chances improve but no guarantees.

Do you have other options? This list doesn't really have a safety.

Safety in the PK lottery = daycare.

PK4: Wait listed everywhere-- (no preference):

#9: Two Rivers Young
#13: Capitol City
#6: JO Wilson (out of bounds)

30s for ITS, Stokes, Creative Minds (seems very very unlikely, I know)

Would love any feedback. We have a decent back up that we feel good about (private Catholic).

My other option is keep him in private pre-school where he is, and we are happy there. He is bi-lingual, english and spanish and spanish is only offered at his current school twice per week. Any ideas? Anyone think we have a chance to get in Oyster Adams?
