It depends entirely on the two schools. If the traditional is Oyster and I'm closer to Oyster, I'd pick Oyster. If the charter is LAMB and I'm closer to LAMB, I'd pick LAMB. Most schools I wouldn't pick at all. Again, it depends ENTIRELY on the two schools. |
Your odds at Bridges are best. The good news is that when it opens it's likely going to be nicer than any of them. By this time next year, you'll be thankful you got in when you did. It's amazing what a permanent facility can do for a school and its community. Congratulations for having a pretty good number for a great little school. |
THIS statement is one of the problems with education in DC. Especially the bolded part. I mean - the fact that ignorant people keep with the charters vs traditional schools is the reason why our kids can't have nice things. Compare schools all day long, but the minute you keep putting the two systems up against each other - you just keep pushing our educational systems back down in the mud and keep those of us who have been fighting for a better DC education for 25 years + Well, basically fuck you. |
Totally disagree with this. PP, check out the Bridges thread if you want a realistic view of what that school is like. |
Really, PP?

PRE K4:
SWS: #28 Two Rivers 4th: #28 Two Rivers Young: #5 CHM Logan: #20 Ludlow T #8 Van Ness #18 JO Wilson #3 How about those #28s, any shot? |
TR4th WL went to the 60s last year |
But last year the entire PK4 class was new. |
Nope. I have a child on the Spanish dominant list. She moved, too! |
|
JOW & LT - you'll prob get offered a spot |
CMHL traditionally goes to the 40 or 50s (I think last year went to 80s?) |
| Does anyone know when the wait list starts to move? This is our first year on the lottery (for preK) and I keep checking the results compulsively! Our numbers are pretty decent at our IB and top choice charter school. |
Our school has said they won't move the list at all until after enrollment deadline. (which may be it'll be 10-20 in one day) |
Thanks! |
