Pedophiles look for opportunities like this. They could easily lie and simply claim they're transgender.

Before going too far off the deep end, I would hope, as a parent, that the authority figures in my kids' schools are respectful of their privacy & behave modestly. I am not at all impressed with the idea of an adult teacher, of either gender, "changing clothes alongside" DS or DD., or using a restroom at the same time, unless there are individual stalls (putting aside the urinal thing, which requires that everyone involved has a penis). I hope that a teacher who "gets naked with" his or her students would be fired, regardless of their

That was the most contentious school board meeting I have ever attended. Wow. I did not realize Elizabeth Shultz was so far to the right. I knew she was endorsed by the Republicans, but wow.

They don't now and they won't after tonight.

Lots of furious parents and according to the news the cops had to be called.

Elizabeth Schultz tried to put a motion out to table the decision until the fall to allow time for parent input and discussion before any changes and before hiring the expensive consultant required by the feds. She was cut off and shut down by the other board members who were not open to any parent input.

Sounde like a wild night.

She was not cut off nor shut down. She spoke at length three times.

It is nice that she is the one school board member who actually cares to get inout and listen to her constituents. She deserves your respect even if you don't agree with her politics.

Don't forget, the school board works for us, the families of the district. Not themselves and certainly not for the federal government.

To so blatantly thumb your nose at the parents as the other members did tonight shows how arrogant those people are.

Her politics don't matter...at least she tried to represent the people who elected her.

So does this mean you can't request a different teacher if he/she is a transgender

Her motion to delay the decision was shut down is what I was referring to.

You can always request, but having a transgender teacher would not be reason enough to grant a transfer to another class. This was true yesterday, today and tomorrow. That hasn't changed. There are trangendered teachers teaching in FCPS county - that is not a change either.

No, her motion to delay was voted upon and did not garner enough votes to pass. If it were shut down, then they would not have allowed a vote at all.

Really? Can you request a transfer if it's against your religion?

No, for the same reason you cannot request white teacher because it is against your religion to have your child taught by a teacher of color - or requesting a female teacher because it is against your religion to have a male teacher teach your daughter.

You are free to choose a religious school to educate your child.
