Ugh! This area is so annoying. We eat all types of foods. DCs like blueberries, carrots, and red peppers. They also like cupcakes, ice cream, and cheetos. Some days we have grilled chicken, rice, and salad, some days we have pepperoni pizza. I can't wait to see these kids who've never been exposed to junk food at college. My parents and my generation grew up on hotdogs, twinkies, and Hi-C. We NEVER ate vegetables in my house when I was a kid. My parents and I are in great health. My grandmother just passed at 94 years old. Food is not medicine. It is food.

"Food is not medicine. It is food". This theory is scary. What we put into our bodies DOES matter and the reason why so many americans are on various medicines is bc of their diet and the damage it is/has caused on the body.

She's not saying it doesn't matter (note that her own family eats "all types of food" even though her family of origin ate heavily processed stuff day in and day out); she's saying it's not the only factor.

I am big on fruits and veggies and animal products from pastured rather than factory-farmed animals, but I find talk of "eating clean" and "cleansing fasts" deeply effed up. Food is not poison; you don't have to cleanse yourself of it. Food keeps you from being dead. Some makes you feel better while it does that, but food is fuel, not virtue or sinfulness.

Oh, and I buy my kids two or three Lunchables a year. I have no idea why they would want to eat them, but they don't understand my love for spinach or bourbon, either.

vegetarian? sounds like your kids are malnourished . It's basically child abuse to with hold meat for children under 14.

*CRAZY ALERT!!* There is no reason to eat meat, protein can come from other sources. I eat meat but have a 6 year old who refuses to eat it. As long as he gets protein, it's fine! Take a nutrition class, lady!

Have you tried bacon? Everyone loves that.

My child actually refuses - on her own - to eat meat. No one in our family is vegetarian. She just doesn't like the taste. Have you ever heard of: sunflower seeds, chick peas, Greek yogurt, edamame, eggs, etc. There are other sources of protein, you know. And FWIW, it is a pain in the ass to have to ensure your kid eats enough protein without someone calling it child abuse. Get a job, dear.

Never. I have 4 kids. Oldest are in college, youngest in upper elementary school.

Once a week won't hurt anyone.

It's not healthy, but it's not poison.

Perspective, people.

My kids learned about them quickly in school. We have strick lunchable rules and they know not to ask for them at the grocery store outside of these circumstances. You can bring one to school on 1.) your birthday 2.) a field trip day where you are required to bring a packed lunch and 3.) the day after a good report card. This boils down to about every 6 weeks and I'm perfectly ok with it. I'm sure eventually they will loose there luster.

never. they look gross.

Never have, never will. No redeeming qualities whatsoever, also too much packaging.

Once or twice a year, when we take a flight. I wouldn't do it even then, but my daughter sees other kids at school with them, and thinks they're some kind of super special treat.

I agree that they're gross. I don't think there's any actual dairy in that "cheese". Just oil.

I am not at all concerned about food normally, my kids eat chicken nuggets and hot dogs and stuff like that all the time. They even get McDonald's once a month or so. But I have never bought a Lunchable.
