The Bachelorette -- TFP

You can tell an abuser on here or anywhere as they have a script. A mindest of victim blaming that lets them justify their actions.

He / she deserved it / asked for it / provoked me. If he / she had just done what I said, not argued, not filmed etc, then they would be fine.

Abusers are everywhere so it isn't surprising some are on DCUM and come into threads about abuse. They understand Taylor and any man / woman who is violent and feel if you knew the context you would understand why he or she ended up being violent and why it was really their fault...and that it is the fault of the imperfect victim.

The officer wrote in his report that he observed redness and swelling on Dakota's face, swelling on his elbow, scratches on his finger, and a laceration on his neck. Pictures taken later showed bruising around his eyes.

He observed a scratch on one of Taylor's hands.

But also I think it's important to point out that Dakota and Taylor have a mutually abusive dynamic, and him releasing this video when he did was part of it. I'm not defending Taylor or what she does in the video -- she's abusive, her kids are in danger, and she needs help. But I also happen to believe her that Dakota was also physically abusing her in the incident depicted on the video. And also the fact that he continued to date her and be closely involved with her for years after what happened on the video, and even after she started filming this season of the Bachelorette, should tell you a lot about their dynamic.

I presume he was angry about the show premiering that would show her dating/hooking up with other men, and related this video to ruin it for her. I don't feel bad for her because she did that and it shouldn't be celebrated, but you can't ignore that he is also terrible.

I mostly just feel bad for their son and for her kids from her previous marriage. Awful.

As long as you hold the same anger and blame for women who stay with their abuser and who yell and push back. The majority of abuse is mutual (about 2/3).

She just assaulted him again recently. Everything in the video is written out in his statement that has been available on line for 3 years. He doesn't need to stay silent because he is a man. And she ruined it with her behavior - he didn't ruin it for her.

Damaged people attract damaged people. A lot of abuse victims are pretty damaged people who aren't particularly nice themselves or great at relationships. Watch police videos online of calls to homes for domestic violence.

PP here. You misunderstand. I am not angry at Dakota for not leaving or blaming him for the whole dynamic. My ire here is at people who eat up the news of their relationship like entertainment when it's clearly an abusive relationship.

I am pointing out that the video release was likely timed specifically to lash out at Taylor to show that this whole thing is an abuse dynamic we are all participating in. I think Taylor decided to do the Bachelorette in part to bait Dakota and make him jealous, and get him back with her. I think he released this video at this precise time to undermine the positive attention she was getting from the Bachelorette and ruin this opportunity for her, because he believes if he can bring her down, she will have to tie herself to him.

No one should be watching any of these people on reality shows or watching this video. These people need to go solve their problems privately and far from the public eye. The best thing the public can do for the kids in this scenario is STOP WATCHING. Don't book them for interviews, don't offer them reality shows, etc. The public attention is like oxygen for their abuse. It's making it worse.

Wtf was ABC thinking casting a women with 3 kids 8 and under with 2 different baby daddies. So irresponsible and just plain wrong, even before this incident was made public.

I wasn't planning on watching this season for the first time in 16 years because of her past history and behavior, guess the network finally woke up and realized she is not a good candidate for this show.

Now her representative is saying she is the poster child for battered women and soon she will find a public forum to tell her story and how her experience can support other women who have also been harmed like she has.

She is apparently just laying low right now because she is "emotionally and physically exhausted" but soon she will be back in a tell all.

This. Damaged people attract damaged people. She was screaming "You did this, you did this" in the video - did what? What did he do that caused her to freak out like that?

Also give me a break. Throwing chairs is a psychopath move but she's like half his size. If she was just kicking him and shoving him he wouldn't have been in any danger. I only care about the kid getting hurt, and being scared.

Agree!!!!!! I think he triggered her and then hit the video on his phone to record her reaction to whatever he did.

Dakota didn't release the video. TMZ obtained it through an FOI request. Her first husband hadn't seen it before so that is why he also went and filed for a protection order and emergency sole custody today.

Looks like ABC picked her because she was a hot mess... and they got more "mess" than they expected!

Stupid ABC. They knew about this long ago but figured her big Julia-Roberts-like-smile would be enough to make the season. Ooof!

What's going to be on ABC now??? I was looking forward to having another show on my rotation. Bring back a Golden Bachelorette! Or just a regular person... like Juliana (from Grant's season) or Litia? Or Cindy from Mel's golden bach seaons -- or the other woman who was originally from Wisconsin, but lived in Colorado and did fitness videos? Can't remember her.

Or Charles from Joan's season -- he was fun.

+1. This 31 year old woman is not even attractive, she's transparently trashy, and with all of her baggage would be the lowest rung in any white collar professional dating pool. It's because the media in all forms is mocking the Christian church and traditional family structure and pushing Godless degenerate filth on America. More examples:

- an obese convicted violent felon married to a literal prostitute is the face of country music
- three times divorced Kim Kardashian becoming a billionaire after being in a porno with a D-list rapper
- Oprah and morning shows helping glorify the Coldplay concert adulterer cheating with her boss
- Sabrina Carpenter's entire career and anti-men songs
- fake relationship between the young Kardashian single mom of 2 (rapper baby daddy) and that clearly gay young actor

You're way off base. Women like her stoke and thrive off drama because that's how they grew up and they're mentally ill. They are bored and stir-crazy without drama. This woman is a grown ass 31 years old with various baby daddies and wants to be a reality TV star. She's certified batshit.

To mock Christianity and Mormonism.

She's abusive and crazy but he clearly also thrives off drama. This video is from three years ago. Their son was born AFTER this incident happened. Which means he chose to have unprotected sex with a woman he knew to be physically abusive and have a serious drinking problem. Like yes, abusive relationships can be hard to leave and I don't blame DV victims who struggle to disentangle themselves from an abuser, but she didn't force sex on him -- he's like twice her size and as a man he ALWAYS has control over whether he's got protection on. She didn't force him to impregnate her. That's something he chose.

At that point they really both have culpability. And I would say the same about a female DV victim who intentionally chose to have a child with her abuser. You need to take responsibility for your actions in bringing another human being into your effed up relationship.

From the first casting, I didn't understand why any eligible young man would want to fall in love and get engaged to a woman with two baby-dadfies snd three very young children. Why would a young guy want to parent THREE young kids that aren't his, with two other guys in the picture? That would be a LOT fir ant 25-35 yr old guy. How were they going to make her look like the "ideal woman"??? Fail!

Her first husband knows her, left before the drama / reality tv started.=, and he too has chosen to get a protective order and file for sole custody. For all of you saying Dakota is the problem - if that was true, first husband would be siding with Taylor - but he isn't.

TMZ did the FOI request after the most recent domestic violence incident. They likely have more to post in coming days.
