Good on the cancellation. They should never have cast her.
But also I think it's important to point out that Dakota and Taylor have a mutually abusive dynamic, and him releasing this video when he did was part of it. I'm not defending Taylor or what she does in the video -- she's abusive, her kids are in danger, and she needs help. But I also happen to believe her that Dakota was also physically abusing her in the incident depicted on the video. And also the fact that he continued to date her and be closely involved with her for years after what happened on the video, and even after she started filming this season of the Bachelorette, should tell you a lot about their dynamic. I presume he was angry about the show premiering that would show her dating/hooking up with other men, and related this video to ruin it for her. I don't feel bad for her because she did that and it shouldn't be celebrated, but you can't ignore that he is also terrible. I mostly just feel bad for their son and for her kids from her previous marriage. Awful. |
| How did she ever get cast to begin with? She’s an aggressive nut job and rather unattractive. |
As long as you hold the same anger and blame for women who stay with their abuser and who yell and push back. The majority of abuse is mutual (about 2/3). She just assaulted him again recently. Everything in the video is written out in his statement that has been available on line for 3 years. He doesn't need to stay silent because he is a man. And she ruined it with her behavior - he didn't ruin it for her. Damaged people attract damaged people. A lot of abuse victims are pretty damaged people who aren't particularly nice themselves or great at relationships. Watch police videos online of calls to homes for domestic violence. |
| Who outed the video? It’s really disturbing. I have to believe he was a huge part of the abuse. I’m not saying she wasn’t wrong (she was out of her mind) BUT he is not at all innocent. Sad situation. I don’t understand why she was cast if she has a one year-old. |
These types of relationships are common with domestic violence but are not always the case. I have a cousin who was in a relationship like this, her and her husband were beating each other up for years. We only get a glimpse of Taylor and Dakota’s life so who knows. All we know as that her child got hit with a chair while she was putting hands on Dakota. |

I heard about an hr ago that ABC did in fact pull the show - - I think the recently leaked footage of her fighting w/Dakota was the prime factor.
It’s a tough watch >> seeing a petrified child being affected. |
| That video was freaking awful. What a hot mess. |

The context of the video was that Taylor was out at girls night and got drunk. Dakota went to pick her up to drop her off at home and then he was heading out to a concert with a friend.
They argued during the car ride over her drinking as Taylor had apparently agreed to not get drunk due to her drinking causing her problems and Dakota being recently sober. When they got to the house, Taylor decided she wanted to go to the concert too but Dakota didn't want her to come as she was too drunk. He eventually agreed but then she couldn't find her ID. They argued again and Taylor was hitting him. He decided to leave but Taylor took his keys and refused to give them back. At one point she was outside jumping on his truck. At another point she says he pushed her into the garage and tried to go in the house. She followed him back in and the video took place. He called 911 When the cops arrived, they were still arguing and she hit Dakota in front of the officers. |
| Was the video that was released today the footage from the arrest that was shown on S1 of SLOMW? |
Yes, the video has never been shown in full until today. |
Yes. |
Who is going to watch the kids if she went to the concert with him? |
Probably. I'm very curious about what her contract says. When they chose her for the Bachelorette, they knew full well that the very first episode of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives literally showed her arrest for Domestic Violence against Dakota, and that that whole show was put into jeopardy as a result. So if I were ABC's lawyers? There would be plenty in there about who would be liable if they had to pull the show for something like this. It was foreseeable. So I'd be surprised if it's not in the K somewhere. |
I think her parents or her dad had been there while she was out at girls night and as soon as the police came she said she needed to call her dad. When the dad came to the scene (very quickly) he was happy to take her daughter. The police also describe her as very alcohol impaired so she wasn't really in any state to watch her daughter. I am guessing she would have asked her dad to watch her while she went to the concert. There is no mention in the police report of anyone else being at the house. |
Ok this is pissing me off now. They completely downplayed it on the show. “I got drunk and mad and threw a stool at my BD 🥺🥺🥺 And they charged me with domestic violence 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺” And then ABC/Hulu just let her be on the show for 4 seasons and do the Bachelorette when they knew it was far worse than that … |
