Would you really leave America if Trump/Musk are scaring you?

Well they’re not coming for the Jews this time, not yet. Just the libs, and the federal workers, and the immigrants, and the trans kids, and the disabled. And to some extent the Muslims.

Not the same at all. This time the descendants of some survivors are helping out (Steven Miller). Actually, some of the Jews helped then, too, and not entirely under duress.

Fascism doesn’t follow the same exact pattern every time. It looked a little different in Italy. It’s very adaptable to local populations.

They weren't implying that anyone is "coming for the Jews." Are you usually this pedantic?

NP they literally said this is "insulting to victims of the Holocaust". What do you think they were talking about?

That being fired from a mediocre federal job cannot be compared to being literally put and gassed to death in a concentration camp?

This is not about feds being fired. Wake the eff up.

Read a book and come back when you’re ready to debate intelligently. The fact that you are blaming trans kids for your personal problems is step 1 in the fascist playbook.

Yes. I would actually flee and leave the US from a fascist dictator. Would I flee from a bad President being held by checks and balances, no.

When we get to the part of the storyline where it becomes obvious it’s “go time”, I’m not going to be paying back student loans.

What’s go time?

Parts of Canada are south of parts of the US you know. Toronto weather is NYC weather.

+1 most Americans do not qualify for another citizenship or have a high level skill that makes it easy to leave.

Where are the skilled workers going to go willingly? They have to accept a steep salary cut.

I think the OB/GYNs for one would be happy to trade a lower salary for the right to practice evidence-based medicine on a healthier maternal population without fear of being imprisoned. Plus no obscene medmal bills.

And pretty much every civilized country would be happy to have them.

I'm in a group for doctors who are working on leaving the US. The moderator mentioned today that 3000 new people have joined it since the election.

We really need more doctors in Canada. You won't make as much money, but you'll make more than enough, and you can be proud to practice here.

No, not for that reason. I think people should stay and fight for their country - generally.

Now, if people begin “disappearing,” being arrested without any legal proceedings, tortured, etc. Then yes, for my children.

They want to cut $800B from Medicaid. It will absolutely bankrupt many hospitals. They either go completely under or you have mass take over by private equity. Healthcare in America gets 100x worse. Who knows if funding dries up for giving loans to train doctors in medical school and if their salaries get cut during residency (people may not know, but physician salaries are paid by the fed govt during residency). If there are no more doctors left in the US, why would you stay? To pay for exorbitant fees at a hospital run by corporations where you just click screens run by AI that's garbage at diagnosing and treating disease? US is turning into a cyberpunk nightmare. I'd expect massive brain drain. Countries across the world would be very smart right now to create new programs for Americans to enter and reside easily of they have valuable skills or education. They could get top level talent for pennies on the dollar right now.

Moving to Europe in a few weeks. I have dual citizenship through a grandparent. We’ll stay long enough for kids and spouse to naturalize and reevaluate.

Will still keep up the barrage of calls to my elected representatives as this chaos continues.

You guys are being hysterical. Nobody even uses pronouns in Europe. None of that garbage exists there. Somehow you guys are fantasizing about that place?

You people are the only ones obsessed with pronouns. You're the first person to bring them up in this thread.

I personally don’t care about them, but I read the “trans” comment referring to removing their “identity” from websites. Like give me a break. If that comment referred to something else, enlighten me.

It's worth it to live in a country with socialized health care and decent public transportation.

Lower salary, higher quality of life.

No worries that someone with an AR15 is going to murder your children in their kindergarden classroom. I'm sure banning psychiatric medications will help with that though.

The Holocaust didn't start with gas chambers, it was decades in the making. Many, many people (who would know) are sounding the alarm and saying the parallels are unmistakable. Listen to them.

+1. People who have experienced fascism are sounding the alarms. Please listen. https://www.nytimes.com/video/opinion/1000000...n-power-tyranny.html

I saw the same articles in 2016. With all due respect, it’s now been about nine years now that the far left has been declaring the US as early 1930s Germany.
