Yes, people don't realize how much government does for every one of us, not just the poor and elderly and disabled. |
I don't think Musk nor Trump really have a plan beyond short term desires. That's just how they operate.
Not sure what's going to happen, how can anyone know? The only sensible thing to do is relax, try to destress and hope it'll be as less pain as possible for all of us. I think Musk intends to cut a lot if fed jobs but not all of if he does cut tons, he may play with that and put some back when he sees how things shape up. As PP said, there's a lot if govt services and it's sometimes hard to remember how much and which provide invaluable worth to us all. It'll be interesting to see what happens but anything is possible J would think. |
The government does not run out of money all at once. Things are funded at different times for different periods of time. |
They are about to find out. |
It’s almost like you people want this to happen. Idk what to make of everything at this point. I hate it here!!! |
It’s happening. There will be no great prosperity when the government and pretty much every major employer is massively slashing headcount and inflation is ticking back up. Since the GOP insists on burning it all down, maybe we’ll get our socialist revolution 100 years too late. |
They do have a plan, but it is based on a false assumption. The plan is to shrink the government so much that companies can basically take over. That magically means prosperity for all, but they really are only just focusing on their own ability to grow a huge company and run up prices while not paying workers. In reality, it will take 6-12 months at LEAST for the impact of what is happening now and going to happen later to cause a massive increase in unemployment. Companies will realize that spending is decreased and start to also lay off their employees. Initially, they will just call it being leaner and more efficient, like DOGE. Later, they will just admit that the numbers don't look good. We end up in a large recession or depression. A leader emerges for Democrats, and the people have something to rally for (getting their jobs back and economy going). How that continues is up to the planners. |
Unemployment rises are their way of combating inflation. They already admitted this when they said they wanted the labor supply to increase to decrease demand for goods. That means they want unemployment at about 6%. That said, it will get to 8-12% or worse. |
Current state of the budget negotiations: Trump has endorsed the draconian House plan as more GOP House members signal No votes while the Senate goes ahead with their keep-everything-the-same budget. IOW, "not going well". |
No, it’s happening. I hope that in your hatred you did everything that you could to prevent what’s happening now. Bannon said, before Trump’s first election, that the goal was chaos and the destruction of the government. Those who chose a demented, racist reality show star with a history of bankruptcies and shady business practices are getting exactly what they voted for. I don’t want this to happen, but the people currently in power do. So it’s either going to take revolution— or the people currently in power need to be motivated to change their ways. The likelihood that they’ll be motivated by decency is low. So we’re now at hoping that enough of them are close enough to enough pain that they realize belatedly that the dubious joys of chaos are not in their best interests. Even so, these people are far better at breaking things than they are at fixing them. Think of how Trump lost money running a casino, Teslas racked up a track record for being even more dangerous than the Pinto, and Musk is ruining Twitter. These are the people that a slim majority of voters chose to run our government, spend our tax dollars, and to make irreparable decisions about our well-being collectively and even individually. Sadly, Musk, Trump, and Vance each have a reported history of wanting to be appreciated, acknowledged and possibly even loved by entities that apparently found them to be lacking, and complicated relationships with their fathers. What’s happening now may well include revenge for slights as their egos interpreted them. NP |
It's not that anyone wants this, people are being realistic. It's happening because Republicans cannot come up with a budget or CR. |
