It will require that the different factions of the republican party agree to a budget.

Given this has never happened in the past, it is unlikely to happen now, so it is likely that for the 6th or 7th time in the last decade, the government will shut down under a House of representatives with GOP control.

+1 the GOP barely has a majority in the House which means they won’t be able to pass anything. So then they’ll have to work with Democrats.

Yeah, we’re shutting down. Wonder if we’ll make another record.

Democrats really need to stop bailing out the Republicans.

If Democrats could get a CR into 2026 at or near full funding, they should do it. But probably won't happen

Democrats have to agree to a budget and debt ceiling increase. Otherwise there will be less government, and Democrats are the party of government.

because trump and elon are already rendering the govt inoperable they have effectively lost all leverage in terms of the dems preventing a govt shutdown. so if the dems can effect one they will. there wont be an argument to make sure things can go back to normal bc they are so abnormal

I don't think they can. I think if by April 30 they don't have full spending bills across the board 10% cuts go into effect.

It's not just the CR. It's also the debt ceiling. https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2025/01/27/trump-debt-ceiling-democrats/

Dems should not provide a single vote for a CR until we know that the money appropriated will be spent.

What is the point of passing a budget of Elon Musk can rip it up and cancel whatever bills he wants?

This.
The GOP will need to figure it out.

Mid March is SPRING BREAK time for a lot of people. If they shut down travel -- people are going to get very upset.

The only thing that is going to cut through is when all the mooching Trumpers don’t get their checks on time, and they realize THEY are the waste. So yeah, shut it down.

Umm Dems nor Repub want to eliminate the debt ceiling. And consider Repub ran on reducing the deficit and spending there should be no need
