Talk of potential government shutdown?

Actually they are the party that enact 10% across the board spending cuts to get folks do pay attention and manage the budget. And Obama let it happened when everyone thought he was playing.

Not even a GOP voter but I agree, get rid of the stupid debt ceiling. Why do we constantly have to play chicken with the nation's credit rating? Default would end the US in a flash. There is no reason for it.

The US won't be able to borrow infinite money anyway, the bond markets will cap how far the US can go into debt naturally. Get rid of it.

Depends on how many are in the Freedom Caucus. There are Democrats on the DOGE caucus who agree with what they are doing with the budget so there are at least a handful of Democrats who will vote for anything that avoids even a slight shutdown. Republicans are in a good position to just waltz in and pass whatever they want.

Democratic Rep. Jared Moskowitz joined a Republican-led congressional caucus supporting President-elect Donald Trump’s newly formed Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, co-led by Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy. Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna has said he will work with Musk on certain issues, and Vermont independent Sen. Bernie Sanders recently posted on X that “Elon Musk is right.”

Look at the date. A couple months ago, lots of people, Republican and Democrat, were looking forward to Musk's DOGE. Now, everyone hates it, Republican and Democrat.

The Ds on the DOGE caucus are sticking around because why not? But the House DOGE caucus is totally sidelined. And unhappy.
