Sidwell, 120 seniors, 6 nominees - 5%
WIS, 63 seniors, 8 nominees. - 13%
Maret, 80 seniors, 5 nominees - 6%

GDS, 130 seniors, 4 nominees - 3%
School Without Walls, 150 seniors, 11 nominees - 14%
Thomas Jefferson, 425 seniors, 22 nom - 5.1%
NCS, 71 seniors, 2 nominees - 4%
STA, 60 seniors, 4 nominees - 7%

I only see 2 STA students.

And St Albans actually have about 80 or more students, so the ratio is actually much lower at 2.5%. Same with NCS, the numbers of students is higher, and the ratio is also about 2%, both lower than GDS. Let's present facts accurately.

But GDS has 150 students, not 130, right?

Under 130 in this senior class.

Why do so many students leave?

This class has always been around 125. That used to be the norm. Numbers went up in the pandemic. I believe the current 9th and 10th grades are quite large.

Also, what is this Presidential Scholar program, anyway? Is there only one winner by state? Which schools were the 2022 winners from?

Blair magnet program is about 100 students per class and the magnet program gets lot of press attention, especially in things that really matter like STEM.

Also, last year scholars for MD were from Blair and Clarksburg High Schools.

I think WIS is an excellent, top-tier, school, but these percentages sound a bit fishy.

Same with Walls.

Way to go Washington International School! This is quite impressive. They must be doing something right.

So what are the criteria to become a candidate? Is this based on some test scores? Or an application of some sort?

When my kid was a senior, you had to have perfect SAT or ACT scores to be nominated from Virginia. For DC, it was less than that.

I don't think the percentage poster above got an 800 on the SAT math subject test.

I know that two years ago, you had to have a perfect score in MD but less than that in DC.

Did you?

Her point makes sense. Contrast WIS with Sidwell.

WIS is the best private in DC

You guys are really trying to rank a school based on this? This will be fun until college admission come out and people will rank based on how many Ivy League scholars there are but not before the admissions game is over and people will rank based on # of kids that applied. DCUM is very strange.

Congrats to all the scholars, public and private.

Feel free to redo it. I stink at math and would love to see the errors, if there are any.
