Congratulations to WIS with a record eight Presidential Scholars, besting all area private schools!! Amazing and says something about the high quality students at WIS. Great job!!!
Where is the list? How did Sidwell, GDS, NCS, Jackson-Reed do?
Wow - and School Without Walls rocked it too! Congratulations to all the winners!
What is this?
Isn’t that a candidate list? Only about 160 kids actually become Presidential Scholars.
I might be missing something, but I thought this was just a list of student who were national merit finalist, who then decided to take the step of applying for presidential. Is it more or different from that?
Totally unrelated to nmf
List of candidates, not finalists. Also really weird because if you look through DC, MD, and VA, some schools have candidates in at least two of those categories, like they couldn’t decide exactly where Maret or Holton are. But congrats to MD publics Blair and Whitman, which licked butt. TJ of course blew everyone away.
*kicked butt omg autocorrect. 🤣
It's based on the residential address of the student.
Nice of them to tell the TJ kids
Initial candidacy is based on SAT or ACT scores. https://www2.ed.gov/programs/psp/about.html |
OR arts OR career and technical OR (and this is the big one) nomination by the state education head honcho or a sponsoring entity. This is the "it's who the school knows" category and it is how, year to year, this school or that school will get a lot of love from the powers that be in DC. |
Wow, Unknown High School kicked ass!
