If that was all they cared about, I guess, but they don't. You could start your own award program, I suppose.

But how is it managed to be fair? I honestly don’t get it. So some kids score in the top percentile. That percentile is context specific to make sure it’s not unfair.
But then others just swoop in sideways through a subjective recommendation? Is it a committee based on some achievement or who the parents know?

Hers lo the info you need to know. https://www2.ed.gov/programs/psp/index.html

I like that it is broad, including academic arts and technical skills. But then it’s by invitation only so it’s about really wanting it and being connected far more than any reflection of merit?

I guess, the obvious question is who of the 40 partners orgs recommended WIS students and who’s the hook?

It’s not by recommendation people. Read the fine print. It’s only for kids who score top SAT and ACT. You can not recommend someone for the Presidential Scholar’s. Nor can you recommend yourself. It’s purely on merit based on the scores you get on the SAT and ACT.

No it’s not. It’s by invitation amongst those kids plus additional kids. Not all top scorers get invited. The invitations are done by a person in each state plus 40 unnamed organizations.
WIS hustled!

In my opinion, not only did the WIS admin hustle, they are the OP.

Around the admission cycle there are always WIS threads touting one thing or another. Someone suggested it’s a deliberate tactic, and honestly it’s possible

And all of the kids speak a second language. There isn’t any other school in the area like it to really compare it to in terms of its success and what it offers. People always talk about the big three. But this is a school that remains under the radar, but seems to produce excellent results.

Yet only have posted 5 college acceptances...hmmm

Their college outcomes are only so-so.

Not this year! So far, in a class of 63 kids; 5 Ivy Leagues, 2 Northwestern, 1 UCLA, 1 USC, 1 Chicago, 4 Michigan, and 5 McGill. I wouldn't call that "so-so!" (Although it isn't Sidwell, it still isn't so-so!)

That is a nice list!
