I'd like to know about the number of sibs at Norwood too, anyone know?

In a typical year, Norwood fills 20-30 spaces with siblings. This year was atypical. They had an usually small number of siblings, so there will be only 12 siblings in the K class for next fall. It explains why they are still looking to fill slots - the AD said that they are looking to add 5 more qualified children to make a class anywhere between 48-54 students.

That sounds more like it with only 4 sibs in each class. But if I do the math right, does it mean they have 43 enrolled now and aim to get 5 more for 48, or do they have 49 enrolled now and aim to get 5 more for 54 total? Is this everyday math? How many do they have enrolled now?

Why does it matter? Just go ahead and apply!

Moving away from Norwood for a minute, does anyone know what the K numbers are like at GA?

pp again. Or prek at GA. Daughter could technically do either given her birthdate.

I heard they are better than Norwood

Lowell seems to have spots (per the DCUM mailing list)

Do you know which grades? How many spots?

A current Lowell parent posted to the DCUM list serv. There are 3-year-old and 4-year-old spots in PrePrimary, and a few spots available in other grades.

Lowell has (as of last Friday) Pre-primary spots (this program begins at age 3 and is not necessarily Pre-K depending on what group has openings) and spots in grades other than K. No K spots available. Also, they have added a Junior Kindergarten (JK) this year. Don't know if that is one of the grades with spots, but it may be because it is a new class.

Definitely call them if interested!

Green Acres

Apples and Oranges. Two different approaches.

Was just about to post the same thing. Both excellent schools I'm sure but they really couldn't be more different from top down. I know a few Norwood parents at work - all very pleasant. Also know several Green Acres families - equally pleasant but maybe a little bit more down to earth.
