Thank you PP for the entertaining response.

Would you please tell me more about Ballou? |
Landon or Georgetown Prep.
Landon is a good choice if you want your son to play sports even if he does not make a varsity team. I loved that my kids had to do sports every afternoon even after they opted out (yes, opted out) of varsity sports to concentrate on music. We had another son at Gonzaga. Loved that too, but at that time sports was fairly competitive--not much for you if you didn't make the team. (That was a couple of years ago.) Must admit I found it easier to get my kids back and forth at night (we had a Stone-Ridger and NCS-er too)in their suburban schools--since we are burb people.
Easy. Sidwell.
At this point, ABL--Anywhere But Landon.

Gonzaga is great. Our son ended up in a terrific college located in a sketchy part of town, but he knew how to conduct himself. He is truly post-racial in his thinking. A negative: he did stop going to church --learned at this Jesuit institution that Sunday mass was an "option"--or chose to take that interpretation, as did a number of his friends. They go back I think once they have families. His brother went to a non-religious boys school (won't mention the name--like touching the third rail) where he had to defend his religion on occasion. He is now a doctrinaire Catholic.
SSSAS. They really get boys. No fewer than half his teachers are male. Math, science and sports are single sex classrooms. Teachers match the boys' energy level. Perfect mix of academics, sports, ethics, high tech and expansive buildings and grounds. Son doing really well and I credit the school for also making him organized.

At SSSAS what is the reason for making science and math classes single-sex but not classes in other academic disciplines such as English, history, or Spanish?
St Albans, Potomac or SSSAS
Thanks! |
