Are you canceling plans for the 4th?

I actually am pretty sure out 40 year friendship is over.

You’ll be missing them hot dogs and fireworks over a silly comment. Enjoy your time with Ben and Jerry’s and LMN.

If only there were some other way for PP to eat a hot dog and watch fireworks?! Oh wait…

Lol! Seriously. Like that person is the only person in the world. Besides she is generally wasted by 4pm and passed out by6pm and I have to take her kids to fireworks.

Personally, I am not on any social media and have been thinking about canceling our plans. I’m just not in the mood to celebrate the country. As a woman, and one with daughters, I find it hard to celebrate a country that has taken away our right to make decisions about our own bodies.
Oh, and I’m a second generation immigrant too. My grandmother is as upset as I am.

It’s all such performative bullshit. If you don’t like a court ruling or a legislative decision, get involved to change things.

But instead it’s all about how the “country” is not good enough for you and how you deserve so much better. It’s such an entitled, self-centered attitude.

And I won’t even mention the unintentional irony of those screaming about how six conservatives on the Court should not be making decisions about their reproductive rights - moments after those same conservatives said “we’re not it.” [I’d have left Roe alone as settled law but, still, in the long run something good may come out of relying on legislators to legislate rather than looking to judges to divine rights.]

Hi, how does someone change a Supreme Court ruling by “getting involved”? ELI5, thanks in advance

We cancelled our plans, but it’s because we have covid.

Your friendship should have ended years ago, PP. These aren’t political difference - they are differences in morals and human compassion. I know how hard it is as I had to drop and shun and old friend too. But there is no other choice. Drop her and shun her.

Of course we are celebrating as usual! What is wrong with you DCUM types. Lots of women (and I am one) bellyaching over their lot in life, day in, day out.

No, it’ll be the same. A cookout with close friends and their families where we will commiserate about the recent events and share ideas on how to mobilize and get moving to change our country peacefully.

That’s the true American way.

Why are you bellyaching day in and day out?

+1. Same. It’s a good day for liberals to make plans to change our country. The Founding Fathers would be proud.

I am celebrating AND donating AND protesting. Patriotism isn't reserved for southern rednecks. I will not leave. I will stay and fight for a better future.

The founding fathers would already be proud that states rights have been restored and an unconstitutional ruling overturned.

No. I’m still thankful for everything this country has given me. And thankful I’m not in Russia.

LMN - lose my number? Or is there another LMN saying I'm not in the know about?

You are right.

Her son is gay and he/they so I hung on too long for him basically but he goes to college in a year and is 8 months solid into therapy. I’d hoped to make a difference and I did sort of because he’s in therapy because I pushed for it. He even came to me and said I’ve asked for therapy but his mom did nothing so I got a recommendation from a friend, the phone number and had him call himself @ 16yo. She did step in at that point.

But you’re right … season or a reason.
