I'm as pissed off as anybody about the SC decision, but this all seems very drummed up from and for social media for me.
Personally, I am not on any social media and have been thinking about canceling our plans. I’m just not in the mood to celebrate the country. As a woman, and one with daughters, I find it hard to celebrate a country that has taken away our right to make decisions about our own bodies. Oh, and I’m a second generation immigrant too. My grandmother is as upset as I am.
It’s all such performative bullshit. If you don’t like a court ruling or a legislative decision, get involved to change things. But instead it’s all about how the “country” is not good enough for you and how you deserve so much better. It’s such an entitled, self-centered attitude. And I won’t even mention the unintentional irony of those screaming about how six conservatives on the Court should not be making decisions about their reproductive rights - moments after those same conservatives said “we’re not it.” [I’d have left Roe alone as settled law but, still, in the long run something good may come out of relying on legislators to legislate rather than looking to judges to divine rights.]
Hi, how does someone change a Supreme Court ruling by “getting involved”? ELI5, thanks in advance
