I agree. People really have no other problems in their lives? I love 4th of July Holiday.

Seriously. Whatever virtue signaling works for you, I guess.

We’re doing what we’ve always done. Zero fcks given.

I’m not going to my regular 4th celebration because the host is a trumper who mocked me on Friday when I was upset about the news.

I actually am pretty sure out 40 year friendship is over.

I'm on board with this boycott. (And I'm genuinely sorry about your lost friendship.)

Yep. "DS said there's nothing to celebrate this year." Well, does your son have a roof over his head? Is he healthy? Does he have a family that loves him? Does he have a dog? I think OP's number one priority should be teaching her children about gratitude & not virtue signaling / how to out-woke each other.

Personally, I am not on any social media and have been thinking about canceling our plans. I’m just not in the mood to celebrate the country. As a woman, and one with daughters, I find it hard to celebrate a country that has taken away our right to make decisions about our own bodies.
Oh, and I’m a second generation immigrant too. My grandmother is as upset as I am.

It’s all such performative bullshit. If you don’t like a court ruling or a legislative decision, get involved to change things.

But instead it’s all about how the “country” is not good enough for you and how you deserve so much better. It’s such an entitled, self-centered attitude.

And I won’t even mention the unintentional irony of those screaming about how six conservatives on the Court should not be making decisions about their reproductive rights - moments after those same conservatives said “we’re not it.” [I’d have left Roe alone as settled law but, still, in the long run something good may come out of relying on legislators to legislate rather than looking to judges to divine rights.]

Yes, this is bizarre. If you're not in the mood for a party, I sympathize, but it has nothing to do with patriotism or loving your country. YOU are your country. You can show your flag proudly because YOU will make your country better.

None of that has to do with the 4th.

You’ll be missing them hot dogs and fireworks over a silly comment. Enjoy your time with Ben and Jerry’s and LMN.
