Are you canceling plans for the 4th?

You are probably one of those who flies a U.S. flag right out in front of your house, aren’t you.

I own a flag, and yes, we sometimes display it outside. It was draped on my grandfather’s coffin, I’m proud of his service, and I am not ashamed of owning a flag. I guess you can say I am “one of those” who votes Democrat, marches for Black Lives Matter and for Pride, and loves this country and works to make it a better place by taking actual action and doesn’t just shoot my mouth off on DCUM. Yeah, I guess you could call me one of those. And I guess I’m also one of those who doesn’t give a fig what you think or say about me.

PP, I am standing right there beside you, arm in arm. Well said! Happy 4th of July!

Coming east on Rt. 66 from Loudoun Parkway, I noticed that American flags were hung on the overpasses until the road reached Arlington. Ukranian flags were hung on the Arlington overpasses. Yesterday, my kids and I bought American flags and hung them from all of the Arlington overpasses.

Love this! Proudly displaying American flags as well. Wish everyone understood the SC decision returned a healthcare issue back to states purview vs outlawing abortion but unfortunately when folks rely on mainstream media versus constitutional analysis…..

But sweetie the states are outlawing it. Even in cases of rape and incest. The states that are now free to Gerrymander as much as they want due to a previous SC ruling. But go off and tell me I don't know what I'm talking about.

People like the PP don’t care about this stuff. That embryo matters way more to them than the raped 4th grader who will be forced to carry it to term.

I sort of care about it, but honestly

- I don’t need access to abortion. I never will. So not a big deal to me, personally.

Hey, great. And I’ll never get prostate cancer, but I still think people who do should have access to healthcare. I’m able to feel empathy for them because I’m not a sociopath.

People who see a little kid who’s been raped and will be forced to give birth, and just shrug their shoulders, are f-ing sick.

DP. Just curious, what are you doing about it exactly? Elections have consequences. I can’t go back and convince everyone who wouldn’t vote for Clinton that their votes would have extreme consequences for women’s rights, I can’t convince Ginsberg to step down under Obama, I can’t convince the idiots in Missouri to vote for democrats.

So what exactly are you doing today to change things? Not going to a BBQ on the 4th of July doesn’t seem profound to me.

What am I doing today? Well, right now I’m having coffee and reminding people on DCUM that the people who are fine with forcing a raped 10-year-old to give birth are truly sick mf-ers. Then I’ll probably have some breakfast, and start researching which organizations I’ll donate to that can help provide access to abortions for the most vulnerable girls and women in the states where it’s being restricted. And tomorrow I’ll be grilling out and taking my kids to see the fireworks.

What will you be doing to help?

So if you are doing a whole lot of nothing (sorry rambling on dcum doesn’t count), why are you chastising others for the same? You are also shrugging your shoulders and giving up. So I guess you are also “f-ing sick” by your standards.

Yeah, so touched a nerve I guess? Presumably you’re one of the people who think it’s fine to force a child to give birth.

How about this: why don’t you outline exactly what the individuals on this thread could and should be doing to help. Give us explicit instructions. Thanks!

Ugh you people are so stupid. This thread is about cancelling 4th of July plans. Which has no demonstrable impact on Supreme Court decisions. Not what you can do to fight for abortion rights. Get over yourself. You are doing absolutely nothing.

Are you the PP who was demanding to know what people are doing today to protect abortion rights?

No.

But my DS is working.

Agree. This country is also for all our daughters and we need to teach them to fight this war with all they have. This battle was lost but the war rages on.

Most pro-lifers are women.

NP. And? Those women also need access to safe abortions for ectopic pregnancies, incomplete miscarriages, rape, incest, etc etc.

Ectopic pregnancies and miscarriages don't count as abortions. Its not a viable pregnancy. A baby isn't coming. It's simply a D&C procedure.

If you really loved this country you would be grieving with the rest of us.

I am an immigrant that loved the freedom in this country compared to where I came from. I am grieving for what the US is becoming. Don’t tell me to move. I am an American and will proudly fight and get involved in activism to stop this nonsense.

-1 immigrant celebrating here for the return to conservative rule of law.

Note that July 4th is a holiday of celebration. If you are grieving I recommend choosing your own holiday, maybe May 1st?

A love of law that forces a child to give birth after being raped is nothing to celebrate. You are f’d up!

Do going to a funeral has no demonstrable impact either so no more funerals?

You don’t have an abortion for a miscarriage.

Then I just saw two social media posts about the same. One from a friend who said her family would be attending a protest at X location instead. Another from a friend who announced they were no longer celebrating and would be wearing black on that day instead.

I told my kids our plans got canceled and neither seemed to care. DS said there's nothing to celebrate this year. DD said wearing black is a trend that's going around on tictock along with not buying gas July 2 (or 3rd maybe?) and a women's strike.

Sounds like social media is affecting how one kid feels.

I limit media intake so I’m not as morose as others. I have to earn a living and run a business so can’t dwell in depression and so on. I will donate to women’s health and abortion choice causes.

We could all be morose about so many things—cults that kill people, bodies found in barrels, the many shootings that happen today and didn’t make the news, the teen girls in NOVA being trafficked, Nazi Republicans, people who lost their homes in last night’s storm.

Look for the helpers. Become a helper.

Some need D&C after a miscarriage which is now not allowed in some states
