FCPS NEW SUPERINTENDENT : Michelle Reid

Anonymous
How could the Fairfax County School Board be so unprofessional as to allow this search to be leaked to the NAACP? It was definitely leaked - probably by a member of the School Board - as the NAACP claimed it was notified by “whistleblowers”.

In addition to the FCSB being racist, they are incompetent.

Every single member of that board should be thrown out of office next election.

The new principal hasn’t started yet!

Just google her name and you'll see.
I googled her name and I don’t see. Please explain.

I wonder if the school board is regretting their decision a year ago to let Brabrand go. They probably thought FCPS was so wonderful they'd have their pick of excellent candidates...and now they see what we knew (nobody with any sense would want to come into the mess they created). Superintendents across the country are burned out and not looking for a job that has a lot of conflict. Much better to stay in a smaller district where people accept the decisions you make, you are given authority to make decisions, and people don't file lawsuits for everything.

The leak was by a community panelist. They violated their NDA. The board tried to slow community input into the final interview process but our community couldn’t behave. How is this the board’s fault?

How is this the school board’s fault that someone violated an agreement they signed not to disclose information. Are you really that warped in your thinking?

If I remember correctly, he did them a favor by agreeing to stay one more year so they didn’t have to do the search while trying to reopen during the pandemic. They didn’t let him go. They asked him to extend by a year.

This is correct.

Hell. No. “Mama Bears” need not apply. Although at this point, they may be the only willing candidates.

Would one of the “Mama Bears” focus on academics and facilities rather than the woke nonsense that’s defined the last two years of Brabrand’s tenure?

If so, sign her up!

Literally, the only things "woke" related the last two years that have even remotely affected me are from the right. They are the ones banning books, focusing time/energy/money removing teaching of a concept in the schools that was never taught, and frothing at the mouth like rabid raccoons at SB meetings.

^^

This is why no sane superintendent will even consider it. Insane, irrational parents.

“Mama Bears” are hysterical loons pulling resources AWAY from academics.

The buck stops with the School Board. The School Board chose to share the identity of the finalists with the community panelists and drafted the NDA. The School Board vetted the community panelists beforehand. Other school boards can keep searches confidential. This is the fault of the School Board.

You have your head in the sand. The FCSB sides with the teachers unions over parents and kids. The FCSB is a national embarrassment.

Because their process was idiotic and lacking in transparency to begin with, and it serves them right that one of their hand-picked sycophants threw a hissy fit and leaked information to the NAACP when they got worried the SB might pick Logan.

Clown show, as usual.

He agreed to stay for a year after they declined to extend his contract for a longer term. Stop trying to rewrite history.

Brabrand wasn’t good and this School Board is toxic garbage.

They didn't renew his contract. Giving him a "one year contract" was just a convenience for the school board since they knew they couldn't search for someone during a pandemic. They chose not to renew him for a real contract -- which is the same as letting him go. Yes, he did them a favor by taking a one year contract. But, THEY LET HIM GO, thinking they could find someone better... and look where they are now.
