In addition to the FCSB being racist, they are incompetent.

Every single member of that board should be thrown out of office next election.

How is this the school board’s fault that someone violated an agreement they signed not to disclose information. Are you really that warped in your thinking?

Because their process was idiotic and lacking in transparency to begin with, and it serves them right that one of their hand-picked sycophants threw a hissy fit and leaked information to the NAACP when they got worried the SB might pick Logan.

Clown show, as usual.

Time for your meds. And your FCPS-bashing shift is up. Get some rest.

Hell. No. “Mama Bears” need not apply. Although at this point, they may be the only willing candidates.

Would one of the “Mama Bears” focus on academics and facilities rather than the woke nonsense that’s defined the last two years of Brabrand’s tenure?

If so, sign her up!

Literally, the only things "woke" related the last two years that have even remotely affected me are from the right. They are the ones banning books, focusing time/energy/money removing teaching of a concept in the schools that was never taught, and frothing at the mouth like rabid raccoons at SB meetings.

You have your head in the sand. The FCSB sides with the teachers unions over parents and kids. The FCSB is a national embarrassment.

“Mama Bears” are hysterical loons pulling resources AWAY from academics.

Yes, “Mama Bear” psychos hate teachers and “teachers unions”.

They probably thought FCPS was so wonderful they'd have their pick of excellent candidates...and now they see what we knew (nobody with any sense would want to come into the mess they created). Superintendents across the country are burned out and not looking for a job that has a lot of conflict. Much better to stay in a smaller district where people accept the decisions you make, you are given authority to make decisions, and people don't file lawsuits for everything.

If I remember correctly, he did them a favor by agreeing to stay one more year so they didn’t have to do the search while trying to reopen during the pandemic. They didn’t let him go. They asked him to extend by a year.

He agreed to stay for a year after they declined to extend his contract for a longer term. Stop trying to rewrite history.

Brabrand wasn’t good and this School Board is toxic garbage.

Brabrand did not want a longer contract. You may not like him, I sure would not want to work with this school board (or frankly the last one), but he did not want to stay any longer than one additional year. He really did not want that, actually, but felt an obligation to stay because of the state of the schools everywhere due to the pandemic.

Mama Bears scare away decent candidates. And pull away resources from academics.

Their hysteria hurts our kids.

The local Democratic activists are in denial. The School Board is 12-0 Democratic, and it's their failures over the past five years and their inability to maintain a constructive working relationship with Brabrand - who prostrated himself in trying to please SB members who were never satisfied - that led to (1) Brabrand slinking away without a real contract renewal and (2) the obvious difficulty in recruiting a replacement.

Fairfax is heavily Democratic, and will remain so, but the behavior of the far-left FCDC activists and the self-interested hypocrites who've largely hijacked the SB are going to cost them seats on the SB and BOS next year.

Any moderates running?

If you only have vile people like Schultz then it’s not going to end well.

School Board candidates should not be affiliated with or endorsed by political parties. Period.

Tell that to the FCDC. The School Board is basically the farm team for the FCDC, and every single current member was endorsed by the FCDC.

On the other hand, it's the left-wing School Board that kept schools closed to appease the FEA, failed to ensure the FCPS IT department was equipped for distance learning, decided to prioritize wholesale changes to TJ admissions and a new "Lewis Academy" during Covid, and continues to allow Jeff Platenberg to mismanage Facilities to a degree unprecedented in FCPS's history.

We just want to make sure kids are actually in school in person no matter where this pandemic goes in the future and unfortunately we can't trust the current people in charge on that front. It's a really low bar but anyone is better than who we have now.

Well lets see what happens. Schultz has a new job. I would run as an independent but I hate people.

Probably both Fairfax Dems and Fairfax Repubs would have to agree. Does anyone think they would?! I am serious.
