Friday's "snow?"

What we need is better preparedness and infrastructure. NY, New England, MN and WI are all laughing at us right now. This is a nothingburger.

How in the Sam Hill are your kids going to get stuck at school in an inch of snow? Just go get them if you have to.

Good grief! Keep your snowflake at home. You guys are nuts!

Since we do not get the same weather it doesnt make sense for us to budget for the same level of preparation. Instead we close or do late arrival or early release. But on this day we had more important things going on than your children's safety.

This would be true if temps were going above freezing. They arent. Roads will still be icy and sidewalks will still be impassable

Anonymous wrote:People have legitimate complains for both days:

1. MCPS should have kept childcare open on Tuesday.

2. MCPS should either have delayed opening today, or organized better brining around the schools for this morning's on time opening. The cars slipping around my kids' high school was quite something this morning, in the dark. A delay this morning would have meant more snow to contend with, but also more time for trucks to salt, and at the very least, it means maneuvering in daylight! Which for high schoolers driving themselves to school is NOT NEGLIGIBLE.

Yup. Bad calls on both days for different reasons.

Bad call today was in response to parents being idiots the other day.

Can not have it both ways.

Don't have kids if you can not take care of them on snow days.

Don't run a school system if you are so clueless that you refuse to open childcare in time for your own employees to get to work

This wasn’t first period. School had already started. They didn’t adequately salt and sand. If my kid is injured on school property due to the condition of their pavement, they should know about it. Relax, I’m not filing a lawsuit.

Which, honestly, is a good fit for how aggro people get on these weather threads

Sometimes I wonder how humanity made it this far. FFS, people, it's not that hard. Hell, the ground is still above freezing, so they snow is just melting as soon as it hits the pavement and sidewalks.
